looking for maternity longish flowery dress

For some reason I have in mind that I want a long, flowery maternity dress. Would this be too mumsy or dowdy? Next question is where from? I've looked online at the usual places but there's nothing out there. Any ideas? I'm 22 weeks and look quite big so a normal large dress wouldn't last for much longer. Many thanks. I'm 5'7".

this long enough?

InternationalMouseOfMystery · 08/06/2007 21:18

or this? not flowery as such but patterned

CristinaTheAstonishing · 08/06/2007 21:35

Thank you. They both have long sleeves, though. I had a good look around at those two sites (which I didn't know about) and found one I'd like if it were longer here

tis my friend's shop

some very nice things in there (if a little £££)

MrsBadger · 08/06/2007 21:41

I think so long as it's shapely it won't look too mumsy - \link{http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/detailfash.php?type=FAS H&code=A9237&branch=IM&category=CSM71this} is quite pretty and not too pricey.

this is too tenty IMO

MrsBadger · 08/06/2007 21:42

this was the first one

CristinaTheAstonishing · 08/06/2007 21:46

That first one is lovely (and much more within my price range). I wonder if the linen allows growth. I really like it. I'll let you know if I buy it.

I have a similar bias-cut linen one from blooming marv - at 19wks I had no bump and it hung off me like a sack, but at 30 it's clinging in a flattering manner wihtout being at all constricting. Should last till Henley (34wks) but not sure how far beyond that.

(NB some good stuff on Ebay at the moment as well)

CristinaTheAstonishing · 09/06/2007 09:05

Thanks, MrsB. I had a look at the eBay things, which I'd forgotten about. So different to other clothes categories, hardly anything ending up quickly, not conducive at all to impulse buying. I'm not a big or impulsive spender, but I do wish maternity clothes buying was easier.

congratulations on your pregnancy! I saw some long (not maternity) dresses in h&m the other day, but I think they are wearable with a bump. Zara is also worth a trip.

saggers · 09/06/2007 09:21

Maybe this

CristinaTheAstonishing · 09/06/2007 19:46

Thank you. I tried a couple of normal long dresses and I looked really awful. So I decided against the long dress idea and bought a knee-length black with white polka dots dress from Dorothy Perkins. Now I'm dying my hair red and bought some new nailpolish too, so feels like a treat all round. I only need an occasion now

walked past a lovley white maternity dress in New Look last week

can't remember length though

CristinaTheAstonishing · 09/06/2007 20:04

I went into New look today too. I think our local branch is too small, I couldn't see any maternity stuff. I went into Debenhams too as they have a Red herring concession who do maternity clothes but the dresses were of really vile fabric.
