Best Fake Tan

jofeb04 · 08/06/2007 20:07

I need to find some fake tan,as I don't tan natually at all!

I'm fair skined (sp?), red head and blue eyes, so a dark tan would look stupid imho!

What's best for me?

Thanks

Same colouring here. St Tropez Everyday. Pricey but absolutely the best IMO. Doesn't stink and not too dark.

Chopster · 08/06/2007 20:09

st tropez mousse.

nice natural colour, without a hint of orange and really easy to apply. I'm very fair. One application makes me look nicely bronzed, two for a nice tanned look.

nickytwotimes · 08/06/2007 20:09

i'm quite fair and once had a st tropez - it was hellish! never tried any others, but my pal had a fake bake a few weeks ago and it looked natural.

Chopster · 08/06/2007 20:10

also, don't go near tanning moisterisers if you are pale.

jofeb04 · 08/06/2007 20:12

Thanks for the advice, quick question, are expensive tans better than cheap ones lol?

I agree Chopster re. tanning moisturisers (e.g. Dove / Johnsons et al) but St Trop Everyday is totally different to them. And I'm so pale I'm almost blue.

twinsetandpearls · 08/06/2007 20:12

st tropez

jofeb04 · 08/06/2007 20:12

Why's that chopster?

vile orangey colour and johnsons reeks of tannign agent, not nice or natural at all.

johnsons is crap-makes you look orange and stinks
have on oil of olay today and extrememly subtle but only one application ,better than johnsons on the smell aswell

must try the st tropez stuff

jofeb04 · 08/06/2007 22:11

Thanks everyone,
Going to try St Tropez. If I end up orange, I know who to blame!!

I have used the oil of olay one for the last 2 days and am really impressed. No strong smell and very natural looking tan.I would really recommend ...and it's cheap.

is that ;was not st tropez or fake bake for fair skins?

boomie · 09/06/2007 13:09

I've been using the St Tropez Everyday for the past 2/3 weeks and it's the best I've tried - loads better than Johnson's.

brimfull · 09/06/2007 13:23

are you fair skinned though?

boomie · 09/06/2007 13:29

I'm medium...

jofeb04 · 09/06/2007 14:00

noddyholder · 09/06/2007 14:07

st tropez is my faev and I have red hair fair skin too.Just one application is enough and it erally lasts. What is the everyday stuff like?Is the colour noticeable?

glitterfairy · 09/06/2007 14:08

The everyday stuff is really good as well and lasts and doesnt smell like cack!

shhhh · 14/06/2007 22:52

I have just used the st tropez everyday moisturiser and must admit atm its brill. I have used the likes of johnsons and tbh I think they smell vile. You spend the day smelling of wee.!

This st tropez is easy to apply and although isn't "fake tan smell free" its not as bad iykwim. I have used the fair skinned one (picked up in error) and the colour is quite nice and subtle..Will see how I get on applying it daily. It doesn't seem to have streaked etc like johnsons did...Missed patches are not very notiable.
May go for the darker one though next time.

MUST point out about the offer st tropez has with it atm when you get £5 off.... Makes out like its on this purchase however its not...its for another purchase of £25 or more..! Beware...!

onefootinthegravy · 14/06/2007 23:02

I have to say I am a self confessed self tan queen have tried nearly all of them !
The best one by far is St tropez, its by far the most natural but don't go to Boots and pay £30. I pick mine up on ebay there are sellers that do the really big bottles in spray, lotion or mousse and the prices range from £15 - £25 !
Just make sure the seller you use has good feedback and sells it regularly ! To be supersafe check the ad to see if the bottle comes sealed.
You can save yourself a packet - My last bottle cost me £16.99 inc of postage same bottle in Boots cost £30 !
