Birkenstocks? Are they the same sort of thing as Crocs?

i.e the world's most comfy shoe to some, the world's worst fashion nightmare for others.

I (ahem) own a pair of Birkenstocks but they are looking a bit ropey. Not sure I want another pair (feel they belong to a too lazy to care phase) but I do want a comfortable pair of quick, let's get to school shoes. Beach shoes, casual back garden shoes. Crocs are out of the question for obvious reasons so what is there? Or are Birkenstocks still okay. Were they ever okay. I don't know. Decisions decisions.

Lizs - definitely get the smaller size, and they come in two widths too so watch out for that if your feet are petite. The 4's I have are really too big for me - didn't make that mistake again (but I just wear them round the house as I don't like them 'slapping' the concrete outside). If they fit they don't 'slap'

I have a dozen pairs, but I get them from Germany, footshopping.com as there are literally hundreds of styles on there and all really really cheap.

I definitely think they're very fashionable, I have a white pair where the buckle is a diamonte heart shape (for £25), how cute is that

I have the Dorian Birkis from BBBs link - but mine are black with tiny little flowers on. Loads of people stop me and ask me where I got them from as they say they love them. They are so comfy.

Birkis or Crocks both horrid!

Your feet will expand after a summer of using them come the autumm you will struggle to get into proper shoes!

They're not cool.
They are ugly.

I have white ones with two straps and a nobbly massage sole. You can wash the sole. I only wear them for pottering about my home. I wouldn't be seen dead outdoors in them but they are comfortable.

I think the worst ones are the ones for three narrow straps. They make feet so ugly for some reason and the OTT sparkly sequinned versions by Heidi Klum.

Yup! It happens to me every summer.... pregnant or not pregnant... my lovely feet seem to expand in summer when I don't wear "proper" shoes.
