New wardrobe

Right - DH has said I can buy a whole new wardrobe but I don't know where to start and don't want to waste the money as we can't easily afford it.

I feel old and frumpy and live in jeans and t-shirts.

I'm 5' 7", 10st 9lb, size 12(ish), tiny boobs, huge bum, jelly belly.

Please, someone, be my Auntie Gok and help me!

I would buy the GOK WAN book before you start, It's brilliant much better than Trinny and Susanna.
Then go to selfridges or somewhere like that and have a personal shopper bring you loads of clothes to try.

Ooo - good plan. Thanks, I didn't realise he had a book!

do you need work clothes or is this a sahm wardrobe?

LilRedWobblyGut · 08/06/2007 15:03

SAHM. Recently gave up work and I think that's the problem. All my clothes were work clothes.

NB are you wearing the right bra? bet you're not. If in London go to R&P, if not get fitted in Debs / JL / M&S / independent lingerie shop.

And while you're in JL / Debs a personal shopper is a v good idea.

There is nothing absolutely wrong with jeans and tshirts so long as they are well fitting jeans of right shape and colour (try Gap Long & Lean) with fitted tshirts - try a slash or a boatneck, or one with a puff at the shoulder (aim is to make top half look wider to balance peary hips).

No sportswear unless you are doing sport.
No fleece - get a fitted jacket
No mens' clothes
No trainers - boots for winter, wedges for summer
Good bag
Accessories

And get a haircut - makes a world of difference.

Thank you Mrs B. I know I'm not wearing the right bra so really must get measured. Last time I went to M&S they were hopeless so may give Debenhams a go.

LilRedWobblyGut · 08/06/2007 15:12

Must get some magix knickers too.

Who's Auntie Gok?

LilRedWobblyGut · 08/06/2007 15:14

The blokey off "How to Look Good Naked" refers to himself as Auntie Gok.
