Diptyque advent calendar - worth it @ £320?

Adore all things Diptyque; candles, personal and home fragrance and often treat myself to a few items throughout the year. Really fancied the Diptyque advent calendar but at £320 this is pretty pricey. When I totted up the approximate total value of the haul it didn’t reach the £320 mark which means paying a significant portion for the box! Now, I know it’s pretty but not sure it’s worth the price tag.

Other calendars such as Liberty and Harrods (which I’ve had and loved previously) are £195 and £250 but with an approx overall value in excess of £600 if the products were purchased separately whereas I think it’s cheaper to buy the Diptyque products separately.

Anyone had the Diptyque advent and loved it and think it’s worth it?

Thanks!

@Didsomeonesaybunny

You are my kind of person!

I am a sucker for these advent calendars.
Iv just checked out Diptyques offering and I would buy a few candles as a stand-alone purchase and buy another advent calendar.

I am definitely purchasing the Harrods and Liberty ones this year and maybe the Jo Malone.

How are advent calendars ‘cringe’?? Hmm Confused

Stealth post or what. It’s not impressive though.

I would hardly call it a ‘Stealth Post’ plenty of people buy these advent calendars. It’s not unheard of 🙄.

@Ivegota - I love them too. I’ll have to toss a coin between the Harrods and Liberty. Really Ree has said both are fantastic though.

Poster who named their cat after their favourite candle, you are my hero.

@chasing - had to google this term. It really wasn’t intended to be, nor was it done to impress anyone.

It’s not the buying of them that makes it stealth post though.

@Didsomeonesaybunny

You won’t be disappointed. If you like Charlotte Tilbury makeup, I had one of hers last year and it was pretty good.

I wouldn't get it, and I'm a massive diptyque fan. You could get the Liberty calendar (which includes s diptyque candle) and have enough left over for one of the brilliant Christmas gift boxes of 12 mini candles that diptyque usually do. Smile

Didsomeonesaybunny · 09/09/2018 20:08

@gower - yes I think you’re right. I’ll go for one of the others. Plus there’s far more choice and variety than just one brand.

No. It's a stupid amount to spend on 24 little mystery gifts, even if Diptyque stuff IS lovely. I'd rather get myself one of those shit Barbie or Peppa Pig chocolate advent calendars and spend the difference on a fabulous handbag plus dress, shoes and a complete revamp of my make-up bag for £320.

ovenchips · 09/09/2018 20:37

I don't know if you like 'Jo Loves...' brand which is Jo Malone's company after she sold the 'Jo Malone' brand. Just been reading about her advent calendar which comes out in Nov and is £250. I've no personal knowledge of either brand(!) but I know people claim the perfumes/ candles in 'Jo Loves...' are better quality etc than the bought out Jo Malone brand. There's details of the forthcoming calendar on Really Ree's blog.

My MIL had it last year and she quite liked it but it's not worth the money IMO. They were all the tiny ones I think (like shot glass size). These are the ones that are sometimes in the Space nk free gifts etc. I would rather buy 10 of the candles with the £320 than have 25 of the freebie size ones, personally
