Whereabouts do you live? They're are lots of 'image consultants' all over uk now if that's what you're after

twinsetandpearls · 07/06/2007 21:57

I don't know I would love to do this just to see myself through someone elses eyes.

choosyfloosy · 07/06/2007 21:58

find a stylist site ?

trouble is the fear always intervenes for me - that i'll end up in a floral shirtwaister or something

hope someone who knows more will be along

twinsetandpearls · 07/06/2007 21:58

twinsetandpearls · 07/06/2007 21:59

twinset, you live near Blackpool dont you? There is an image/lifestyle consultant lady in St. Annes- she lives on my very road - and she does short courses at Bispham College as well as one to one - cant think of the name of it offhand but she seems quite good.

MrsBadger · 07/06/2007 22:07

Busybean, MN will do it - start a thread! (possibly in the morning [yawns])

off the top of my head:
no sportswear unless doing sport
no fleeces (get a fitted jacket)
no trainers (boots for winter, wedges for summer)
more skirts
more heels
proper handbag
accessorise

haircut and makeup are out of my domain but there are gurus aplenty about...

ViciousSquirrelSpotter · 07/06/2007 22:08

Yes I will do it for a thousand quid

Bouquetsofdynomite · 07/06/2007 22:10

Busybean - how about local colleges? You could learn a lot (from the trainers) being a model for hair and beauty and all quite cheap.
Re fashion, give us you details and a photo and we will find you links to a complete new wardrobe - this is what MN Style board is all about! Plus, this is essential to any woman.

MrsBadger · 07/06/2007 22:13

(but get it from the library so it's free)

AnneJones · 08/06/2007 10:54

Busybean - I love Bobbi Brown - they are really great for natural make-up. Make up makes one look 'groomed' esp if subtle and pretty.

Beautician for eyebrow wax and facial.

Go to the best hairdresser you can afford and consult with them about cut/colour. Best to explain that you need a really good cut that is low-upkeep (ie doesn't take much styling) if you are not that up for faffing (I'm not myself!) Colour is really nice to lift a hairstyle.

Try a personal shopper and be prepared to hand yourself over. If cash is an issue explain you want one outfit but wish it to be the basis of a capsule wardrobe that you can add to as and when you can afford it.

Or take a stylish friend shopping and be willing to try on things she picks even if they ar not what you usually wear. As long as they are practical for your lifestyle, you might find yourself in some outfits you wouldn't have picked out for yourself at all.

Can you tell I watched Trinny & Susannah last night? (I hate their cod-psychology and patronising tones...but had the TV to myself so had to indulge!)

twinsetandpearls · 08/06/2007 14:54

malmaman what is she like, I am a bit ervous being redone St Annes style but I may look into it.

twinsetandpearls · 08/06/2007 14:55

malmaman are you near me?

malmaman · 10/06/2007 00:34

Twinset, she seemed ok - pretty approachable and all and well put together - she did a presentation at my rosemary conley class - will get her details next wednesday if you like and post the name on here - think it was something like JD Image Consultants...thought I might go to the course but I dont think I'd have one on one - only because she lives more or less opposite and I'd think she'd be looking out of her window in disgust at how I leave the house everyday !

twinsetandpearls · 10/06/2007 02:33

lol at the thought of being curtain twitched in disgust by am imagie consultant.

That would be great if you oculd get her details

twinsetandpearls · 10/06/2007 02:37

I think I might have seen an article about her in the gazette actually.

Pannacotta · 10/06/2007 22:09

You could try www.styledoctors.com, they will go anywhere...

malmaman · 10/06/2007 22:31

Twinset - will attempt a link to her website, bear with me....

www.jd-image.co.uk/index.htm

Hope it works!!
