Gingermonkey, I'm also a speccy 4eyes but that means you have to work harder to get your eyes noticed!

Twinset, I'm not into anything that requires a separate utensil myself. I have a hard enough time keeping DS out my make-up drawer, I need make-up in secure self-contained units with no tantalising brushes lying around to clean the toilet with .

Has anyone had a good liquid eyeshadow stick lately? I found these have great staying power but am running out of my ancient H&M one.

this Clinique bronzer is really fab

fishie · 07/06/2007 21:24

i have got a nice eyelid base thingy from mac (see it really is far too close to office) £10 does keep soft eyeliners in place. esp now i seem to need some sort of surgery to keep my brow bit from smudging it all off.

InternationalMouseOfMystery · 07/06/2007 21:28

am happy to admit i am lacking in bravery vis a vis make-up

vary brands but in essence it all boils down to

every day: cream blush and mascara
going out: base plus above plus browny/bronzey powder plus eyeliner plus maybe shine on lips

love chanel extracils mascara

and am curretnly trying out a couple of kiehls items i was persuaded to buy in spaceNK - a tinted moisturiser and a juicy tubes type affair

twinsetandpearls · 07/06/2007 21:34

yes I have bought that eye base it is good, clinique does a good one as well as does benefit actually.

city block by clinque is the most wonderful stuff - esp this time of year - non-gloopy sun block. I had it in sheer tint last year which I loved but could not find it today.

Not really make up but good sun block for face.

BishyBarneyBee · 07/06/2007 22:54

oh and mayvbeleine long stay lip coluor is fab too - but have said that already on a nother thread.

can't do eyeshadow as have specs so look like Deirdre Barlowe, it's got to be liner all the way. none of your pen nonsense, applied with a brush.
NOW, i ust need to say that i've found The Best Foundation Ever Made. Paul & Joe. First base i've had (and i've had a few) where the light reflecting particles actually reflect light. the visual effect like beauty flash balm, you now, that perky but well-slept thing. but without that bizarre pasty tightening that you get with BFB.

brimfull · 07/06/2007 23:01

this benfit eyeshadow is lurvely

twinsetandpearls · 08/06/2007 13:55

I think that is one of the shades I have.

AS all you ladies obviously know your make up I have a small question.

My YSL Touche Eclat has recently started to smell of wet blazer. I've cleaned the brush bit but I think the smell is coming from within. This isn't a good sign is it? I will be very if you say I have to chuck it out, but equally do not want to end up with hideous eye bag fungal infection.

So chuck or not?

BishyBarneyBee · 08/06/2007 19:23

how long have you had it?

did you read that thing in the sunday times about bacteria and make up? [vomit]

Apparently we are supposed to change things in our make up bag every 3 months.

I have things lurking in there from student days!

BishyBarneyBee · 08/06/2007 19:24

thinking about it though can't work out how bacteris would get into it.

Take it back and make a stroming fuss.

I'm using benefit's lemoniad forunder eyes as have run out of touche ecalt, quite good even though it's meant for eyelids imo

JackieNo · 08/06/2007 20:29

Bacteria can get in from the brush, I guess.

BishyBarneyBee - is the Clinique city block matte? And what spf is it? I could do with some sun block for my face that doesn't make me look as if I've stuck my face in a vat of chip oil.

Slubberdegullion · 08/06/2007 20:51

Touche eclat prob about 4-5 months old now. Can't take it back as MIL buys it for me from NAFFI store in Germany. I've been using it (the product) since my wedding and am a diehard fan. Have never had one go all whiffy on me before.

I think I will prob chuck, and start on my new pen. boohoo I do hate chucking pricey stuff.

BishyBarneyBee · 08/06/2007 20:57

Jackie - city block is fab - goes on matte and not gresy at all. ou can get spf 15, 25 or 40. think 15 is fine.

go to clinique counter and ask fro sample.

BishyBarneyBee · 08/06/2007 20:58

city block

JackieNo · 08/06/2007 21:25

Brilliant - thank you. Will give it a go.
