And yes I know I know it's the DM and it's Liz Jones saying it but hallelujah!

(Now to get rid of those horrible maternity tops in 70's wallpaper designs and I can go shopping again)

I have a very noisy and controlling super-ego.

Gingermonkey · 07/06/2007 20:47

Franca - mine is terrible, makes me buy things for no reason other than they are shiny. terrible, it's an illness you know.

francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2007 20:57

I love shiny things. However, I spend most of my time in a pair of new balance.

Gingermonkey · 07/06/2007 20:59

That is very . Mind you, I spend most of my time in pair of converse or vans (but also wear those westwood pirate boots that Kate Moss copied me with again!!!!!) But shiny is my fave.

cylonbabe · 07/06/2007 21:00

i hav eonly hjust become thin enoughish to wear them.
i love the idea of skinny jeans with a dress. and mom approves

francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2007 21:00

you have a westwood obsession, I should say...

Gingermonkey · 07/06/2007 21:01

sssh, don't tell!

francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2007 21:03

My lips are sealed

Gingermonkey · 07/06/2007 21:05

thank you

krib · 07/06/2007 21:06

I swore last year that I would NEVER wear them ( I wore drainpipes 25 years ago - snow-wash ones - really vile).

Then I tried a pair on in the Gap sale a few months ago.... I confess I am now a skinny addict. I even splashed out on a white pair a few weeks ago (even though my 7 year old declared in the changing room VERY LOUDLY: Mum, don't buy them they look hideous!!!!!!!)but I think I look rather lovely in them and feel much more glam in them than normal ones. So there

Gingermonkey · 07/06/2007 21:07

LOL, krib - my dd is almost 8 and when I picked her up from school today in my shiny shoes she said 'wow, nice shoes mummy'. I was well impressed! But someone she tells me I look a bit weird.

Women are so stupid when it comes to jeans. I'm sorry, but it's true. Why wear trousers which are as wide at the bottom (at least) as they are at the top? It makes legs look like tree-trunks! Skinny jeans are fine - just get them large enough around the bum and high enough so there's no muffin-top. The absolute WORST look imo is low-cut jeans with love handles hanging over (esp. with thong showing at the back & stretch t-shirt emphasising the whole sorry mess!)Yuck-o-rama.

Gingermonkey · 08/06/2007 07:08

my pet hate is the thong - there is no need if you buy the correct knicker (one that fits and is in a thin fabric) and the back fat haning over the pair of jeans, and the crack of someone's arse......makes mefeel quite upset justing thinking about it!!! franca I'm going to Rome today!!!!!! am very giddy and excited - ciaou ciaou!!!!!!!

francagoestohollywood · 08/06/2007 09:04

gingermonkey. Have a lovely time

licketysplit · 08/06/2007 22:32

I got my first ever pair of skinnies today! I was wedged in Top Shop fitting room with DDs (6&7 yr old) passing loud comments about the various things I was trying on. When I got the jeans on I said "So do I look like an old Mummy trying to be a young Mummy in these?" To which DD3 replied, "No you look like a sexy Mummy!"

That'll do for me!I love 'em. If a little late in the day.
