Jeans for those fat of arse

As the title says really. I have a fat arse and hips. I like to think I'm a size 14 but I'm probably a 16 in reality and my current jeans have just stretched round me. I have a constant problem with jeans slipping down to show my fat arse crack so have to wear granny knickers to combat problem. I think it's because my waist is proportionally smaller than my arse but it may be I'm deluded and it's just my general fat self.

I also have pretty heavy set thighs and knees. Early 40's. Please help me I look like a frump with her arse hanging out.

I have a fair size bottom and an size 14. I find M&S relaxed slim jeans best. Not too much stretch and generous on the bum. A 12 fits me, so you may need to try 14 first. They come in different colours and lengths. Some have turn ips, others don't.

Jeans for those fat of arse

I am a similar shape, I carry all my weight on my arse, thighs and knees and I'm a size 14. I bought the Uniqlo cigarette style jeans at the weekend and I love them. They have less lycra / stretch than skinny jeans so don't cling around my arse and thighs. They are extremely flattering imo. I have sized up at the waist, and wear them with a belt, but overall they are the nicest, best fitting jeans I've had in years.

ballseditupforever · 06/09/2018 11:45

They look amazing @alphaechokiwi which size did you get as all the reviews say to size down.

OP posts:

I bought the 32 waist. The 30 also fit at the waist and looked ok but strained a bit (due to the size of my arse!). The 32 are loser at the waist but overall more comfortable for me. And they sit on my waist, so no gaping bum crack when I sit. I'm an m&s size 14 ish at the moment if that helps😉

ifancyagreencard · 06/09/2018 12:14

Get thee to Top Shop and try on the Mom jeans. Speaking as a woman slim of waist and generous of arse and thigh.

A revelation! Thanks to teenage DD for dragging me into a shop I'd never have considered as I approach 50 . . . .

calabalamuc · 06/09/2018 12:22

Read your post ballseditup and thought I must tell you about my new jeans.... then saw DianaT1969 has beaten me to it. I am wearing those exact jeans for the first time today and they are comfy and as flattering as can be on my ample arse. I have had very mixed success with M&S jeans in the past, so if you have, don't be put off giving these ones a try. Good price too.

Thebluedog · 06/09/2018 12:24

Similar issue here, very hour glass shape with a considerable arse. I wear high waisted jeans but always with a belt, otherwise they continue to slip down. If I don’t wear high waist I’m showing my builders bum to those with the misfortune to look round when I’m bending down Grin

Ginkypig · 06/09/2018 13:35

Iv not been able to find anything to fit for ages because my preferred style is not in fashion at the moment (kick flare)

I hate skinny jeans normally and never ever wear them because they are too tight on my thighs and half my arse pops out when I sit down but Iv been forced to find some as there was no other styles in the 4 shops I looked in (except for those stupid wide short leg monstrosities)

I had a revelation last week. Men's slim skinny jeans from primark! They are skinny without the sausage skin look and the arse is slightly higher so they stay in place when I sit down and the pockets are actually pockets and not just tiny flaps that just hold a penny piece.

Ginkypig · 06/09/2018 13:37

Just to add it's the slim skinny not the stretch skinny as they are awful!

@Ginkypig you make a good point. I had not considered it was the fact they were to tight on my thigh as the reason my arse pops out constantly.

My sister is a similar shape, and for a long time the only jeans she ever bought and didn't send back were from M&S. Another option, that has been her lightning bulb moment, requires a few more £ to be spent but will result in the perfect fit is to buy some you really like that fit your bum and legs, and then take them to a seamstress (or a lot of dry cleaners also offer this service) to get the waist narrowed? They will then fit you perfectly!

dementedma · 06/09/2018 19:16

my arse is ample but its my tummy thats the problem! I have slim legs and then a big tummy (3 C-sections and too much booze!) so I look like a pumpkin on two knitting needles.
Which jeans are good for apples. Have to be hight waisted but not frumpy

ExpectingToFly · 06/09/2018 19:48

My arse is so massive it's in its own time zone Grin will try those m&s ones thanks! How about tops? I will only wear jeans if I can get a top long enough to cover my bum. Any recommendations?

WipsGlitter · 06/09/2018 19:50

I've found monsoon to be a good fit!

BikeRunSki · 06/09/2018 19:54

Same size and shape, few years older than OP. Boden Trafalgar straightlegs fit me brilliantly and I look ok. I got the 14 - despite often being a 16 and Boden stuff rarely fitng me- and loved them so much I got 3 colours.

Ginkypig · 06/09/2018 20:24

Too tight on the thighs but not the wrong size because going up a size makes you look like you're wearing your nana's stockings!

User782 · 06/09/2018 20:34

I have a stupid shape, I usually wear an 18. I have a smaller waste but a giant bum and thighs. I am about to turn 30 and have never managed to find flattering jeans that I'm not having to pull up all the time. But surprisingly, the Levis plus range are absolutely incredible. High wasted, generous sizes in the thigh and bum area and they make my tummy look more flat. I know they're expensive but I bought a couple pairs of these ones(managed to get 20% off though) and I will never go back... www.levi.com/GB/en_GB/clothing/women/jeans/316-shaping-straight-jeans/p/196410014

Arcadia · 06/09/2018 20:43

I have a big bum and small waist and buy jeggings from peacocks with elastics red waist band, £12 a pair! I buy a few pairs at a time! I actually get into a 10 as well when I am usually 12/14 round my hips! They go up to big sizes there.

MrsMarigold · 06/09/2018 21:52

I read something on here about Levi's, I went to the shop on Regent Street, where the shop assistant was awesome and knew my size by looking at me. They are great. I got 724 high rise no crack showing and so comfy.

Ginkypig · 06/09/2018 22:21

Oh by the way I meant to say they were £10.

Jitters22 · 06/09/2018 22:23

I myself am not fat of arse, in fact I'm rather scrawny of arse if truth be told, but I just wanted to say how much I love the thread title!

Sarcelle · 07/09/2018 03:27

Large of arse too and following with interest

HostessTrolley · 07/09/2018 09:47

Sainsbury’s have some good ones and are cheap. You need to find a store with a decent sized clothes department and try a few on.

MorelloKisses · 07/09/2018 11:16

I’m major pear and waist to bum ratio is silly so I often expose my buttocks inadvertently.

I now love Salsa push in jeans. They cut a very severe shape from waist to arse which suits me and are high waisted so I’m not exposing myself. They aren’t over generous though so size up.
