No - sorry. V neck to highlight norks (36F), comes down to below knee.

heels with that lenght. what bag have you got?

newlifenewname · 07/06/2007 12:12

Unless you have thread/varicose veins as
I have then I'd always opt for fake tan over tights/stockings. And never, black for evening.

HonoriaGlossop · 07/06/2007 12:22

Yes either fake tan and wear strappy sandal-style shoes, or wear natural colour tights/hold-ups with shoes that don't have an open toe. Definitely heels with that length dress, I agree. Don't be tempted to go for black tights!

Ladymuck · 07/06/2007 12:24

No varicose veins. Will opt for fake tan then.

God haven't though about a bag.

Thinking about a colourful wrap thing - possibly this

Heels are definite as I'm vertically challenged. Oopen or closed toe?

OP posts:
Ladymuck · 07/06/2007 12:29

The dress is probably a little bit longer than this one

Is the dress you have a halterneck as well? Because if so then I don't think you need a wrap, I think the line of a halterneck is better without something round the shoulders.

If fake tanning, I'd go for an open toe.

CountessDracula · 07/06/2007 12:33

go for a pale spray tan a couple of days before

MrsBadger · 07/06/2007 12:33

Bright colour with black is a minefield and carries a huge Tack Risk
I'd go for something more subtle like bronze or pewter, or a black one with beading or detailing of some kind.
It will not look dull, it will look sophisticated and elegant. A good black dress does not need 'brightening up'.

I'd do high open toed black satin sandals and a pedicure, or even metallic sandals if you get a wrap and/or bag with similar coloured bits.

What's the event?

Ladymuck · 07/06/2007 13:14

Thanks. It is for a black tie 40th. am limited to high st and an texting from there now. no time for spray tan as drive up north tomorrow.

oo yes metallic lovely

MrsBadger · 07/06/2007 13:24

sounds lovely

Barratts or Dorothy Perkins for some pretty (and bargainous) sparkly or satin sandals and a little bag, Tie Rack or M&S for a wrap and you're done.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 07/06/2007 13:30

I would go for chunky shoes, perhaps round toe courts, rather than sparkly sandals. That way you could wear sheer black tights too (I'd go for ones with a cuban heel and seam up the back, I love those at the moment)

PinkMartini · 07/06/2007 13:33

Or flesh coloured fishnets - not quite as objectionable as american tan imho
Only £3 from M&S though you need to find a big store as they don't all stock them.

InternationalMouseOfMystery · 07/06/2007 13:35

absolutely agree that bronzey-gold accessories fab

esp with a bit of fake tan on legs

nude tights just about ok if impossible to see - i.e. no sheen/shimmery nonsense

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 07/06/2007 13:44

How will you be wearing your hair?

Ladymuck · 07/06/2007 13:53

Ok. Have got bronze metallic wrap from M&S Autograph. Black beaded clutch bag from Next. Sheer natural tights to cover my options. No shoes in either. Will try DP next. Thanks this is almost as good as taking bf with me.

Principles have bronze sandals (no good with tights) on their website

Debenhams also worth a look for shoes.

bozza · 07/06/2007 14:16

I went out wearing a similar black dress a few weeks ago. I got advise from on here and was also on a budget. I wore silver satin peeptoes that I already had with a brooch thing on the front. I got a small silver sequined bag from Next and my sister lent me a silver wrap. I also did fake tan.

Ladymuck · 07/06/2007 14:26

Ta. Principles here is in Debs but no joy. Need facility to be able to post picture from phone for instant feedback. One option is some bronze sandals in DP but I get an ugly wrinkle near big toe. Ds2 favours black patent.

MrsBadger · 07/06/2007 14:27

blakc patent sound quite cool but not if courts - peepttoes or sandals v good
