Would anyone like to critique my capsule wardrobe for a trip to France? 🇫🇷

I am going to France in October for a short, coastal break. So far I have...

Tshirt and trousers for travelling. Will probably wear converse. I have this cardigan in black and very pale blue. Not sure which to wear. Or thinking about a scarf?

I have a plain v neck black dress for going out in the evening. Thinking of buying this necklace to go with it. Not sure about shoes. It might be too cool for sandals.

Planning a couple of simple shift dresses for the daytime, worn with converse. this in bright pink from a couple of years ago

Any suggestions as to what else I need to add? Bikini and throw over sorted.

Ooh yes, they are similar to these

I approve.

(What's the sizing like on those H&M trousers? Are they a generous fit or skimpy)

Olivecake · 30/08/2018 17:17

Maybe a jumper or sweatshirt that you can wear with the cigarette trousers (or throw on over a shift dress) for cooler days or casual evenings

BillywigSting · 30/08/2018 17:17

Handbag big enough that you can chuck everything you need in it in a neutral colour that goes with everything in your wardrobe.

Can be used for travelling too.

Love the dress.

The trousers and t shirt look like work wear to me.

I try to avoid black as it's not that flattering.

Navy slacks and a t shirt, shirt perhaps white or stripy and the cardigan you have with vans would be better in my opinion.

But that's my opinion, like anyone's means not a lot.

Wear what you feel good in and like.

SentToTheSynByn · 30/08/2018 17:24

H&M have changed their sizing so I ended up buying a size smaller that usual. Having said that I have lost weight recently. They do have a slight stretch and I love the side zip.

Yes, thinking about maybe a longer cardigan or jumper for the evenings. I have a nice purple jumper from joules that would work.

Bag???? What colour? I have a tan bag that I usually take for travelling but it's not my favourite. I do love this bag

Snow sun, I do love black, and struggle to find trousers that I like. That's why I was thinking a funky scarf.

I’m guessing South of France and early October, or you may be a bit chilly!

I also have those trousers and love them. I am a cream/ navy/ grey capsule wardrobe owner and went with tan bag, sunglasses and sandals in France this year.

Black cardigan would go better with the pink dress I think- does the throw over work as a wrap for the evening too?

SentToTheSynByn · 30/08/2018 19:42

The boden tshirt hasn't arrived yet, but if I like it I might get another colour.

So black, pink, purple. Would that work with a tan bag?

I would definitely suggest some warmer clothes. Also October is one of the wettest months of the year, so a nice rain coat too? Have a lovely time!

blueskiespls · 30/08/2018 19:56

@SentToTheSynByn and really like the Accessorise bag Smile

BillywigSting · 30/08/2018 20:49

Tan is neutral so works with pretty much everything.

That accessorise bag is lovely though if you wanted an excuse for a new one

user1486076969 · 30/08/2018 20:56

I hope you have a great time, in my opinion you'll need a few more layers for the shift dress...and I'm very jealous Envy that you have the time to plan such a lovely wardrobe for the trip........Envy

Oblomov18 · 30/08/2018 21:16

Really like the trousers. What other t shirts are you going to wear with them?

SentToTheSynByn · 30/08/2018 21:24

@user1486076969 thank you, I've had a horrid few years so am treating myself. Feel free to live vicariously Grin.

I tend to overpack so really need to scale it down.

@blueskiespls I bought the bag! I had a gift card so it was free.

I also bought a fine knit cardigan. I didn't even look at the price, it was so cheap I'm thinking about getting one in red.
