How in the name of arse, is it so hard to find ankle boots!

I am boring myself now. I’m looking for a pair of ankle boots, black, nubuck or leather, suede ok as well. 2 inch heel or lower. No belts or chains, although zip or tasselly zip acceptable. I would adore something similar in shape and look to my utterly beloved AllSaints Bonny boots which were lost in the great-washing-machine-flood-of-winter.

They need to be fairly robust - I had my Bonnys for 9 years and they were soled and resoled - a leather sole is preferable and I’m happy to pay for good quality.

Any ideas gratefully accepted!

How about these from Topshop? I had a similar pair and they’ve lasted five years of wearing them probably 3or 4 times a week all autumn and winter. Had them resoled each year. m.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/western-boots-7928864?dual-run=topshop.com&geoip=noredirect&cmpid=ppc_pla_UK_ip&utm_medium=cpc&tsrc=vdna&istCompanyId=38aa0d7f-6514-4cb3-bbdc-df0d32d48b7f&istItemId=-xqlapaalxq&istBid=tztx&utm_content=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4NWj9oyS3QIVSLHtCh3WqwCTEAQYCSABEgKjJfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Or these from Mint Velvet? www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/siena-black-studded-boot/17730 Has a very subtle stud detail, not sure it that’s too much.

These from Hudson? www.hudsonshoes.com/kenny-black-boot.html

Office? www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,10/2884803449040?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7viV_I2S3QIV55XtCh3qXQfBEAQYCSABEgKEivD_BwE

I’m on a similar boot hunt!

rightknockered · 29/08/2018 13:14

I have these from last year. I wore them a lot, at least 4 times a week and they still look as good as new.

Deathraystare · 29/08/2018 14:37

Have you looked at Clarks??

CherryBlossom23 · 29/08/2018 14:43

Ive had these Kurt Geiger "Slow" boots for 5 years, resoled them once. I love them sooo much. Took a few wears to break in but they've moulded to my feet now and are so comfy. Also come in a nice tan brown colour.

If you have vaguely wide feet, then try Van Dal

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 29/08/2018 16:35

These any good?

blodynmawr · 29/08/2018 16:38

I don't have particularly wide or funny shaped feet but have never got on with Hudsons or some other brands such as Joules Sad. I usually end up with Boden or M&S ones. Both these brands usually last many years, including suede styles. I have last year's version of these M&S ones which were worn regularly and still look good as new. HTH Smile

StripySocksAndDocs · 29/08/2018 16:47

I don’t know. I too have been trying to find some for an age. Think I make it harder for myself as I just don’t like Chelsea boots too.

I had a pair of suade like slough boots from Primark that I loved, but they were from Primark so died - though I got a few years out of them first. RIP lovely boots. 😞

Butterfly1975 · 29/08/2018 16:48

I have the M&S suede boots too and would also recommend - they are really comfy right from the start.

Clarks are quite dull and samey but are usually comfortable and I've got my eye on these this year www.clarks.co.uk/c/Netley-Freya/p/26135186

BagelGoesWalking · 29/08/2018 17:53

Clark's Orinoco - so comfortable and long lasting. In a variety of colours and wise for available. www.clarks.co.uk/c/Orinoco-Club/p/20340918

BagelGoesWalking · 29/08/2018 17:54

Wise for = wide fit.

I love these, last for ever too.

Currently trying to find brogue/Oxford style Lace up ankle boots for me. Simple, low heeled.....they don't exist I think.

KateMcD451 · 29/08/2018 18:27

What about these:

Gullane · 29/08/2018 20:18

Thank you all for your fabulous suggestions. They’re all a bit neat and tidy for me...i like the leather and soles to be quite heavy, like you could stamp around Sonar all day then rub the toes on the back of your skinnies and wear them with a swishy dress. I’ll try to link my old pair as an example: www.depop.com/keylacavdar/keylacavdar-allsaints-bonny-cuban-brown

Waily wail. I love them so much!

Have you tried Russell & Bromley?Lots of options

www.russellandbromley.co.uk/ankle-boots/bootstraps/invt/373055

They also have some flat lace ups which another poster mentioned.

Gullane · 29/08/2018 21:04

R&B are really great quality but a bit eye-wateringly dear. £150 - £200 is probably top whack for me.

MissMarple - have you seen these: www.dunelondon.com/philomena-brogue-detail-lace-up-ankle-boot-0092501020020511/

I've got 2 beautiful pairs from new look!

dundee12 · 29/08/2018 21:08

Gullane yep not cheap, but I have pairs from there that are decades old so for some bits I think they are worth it.

Member · 29/08/2018 21:16

What about Frye boots? Pricey but they have an extra 25% off sale prices or can register email for 25% off full price

MissMarplesKnitting · 29/08/2018 23:20

Oh my god @gullane they are PERFECT thank you!!

OliviaBonas · 29/08/2018 23:24

I have bought the same Dune Chelsea boots for the last few years if they’re still going.

Catinthecorner · 30/08/2018 00:16

I’ve literally just this week bought some All saint Bonnys from brand alley if you’d consider the exact same thing again to be a winner?

ChishandFips33 · 30/08/2018 05:17

Hudson Riley? They have a zip on both sides
The brown is more 'rugged'

Gave you tried La Redoute? They sometimes have slightly different styles
