I just don't know where to start looking. I'm about a 20/22. Legs decent, look good in heels. Massive belly region and also big in breasts. Have the curse of fat upper arms too.

Have to go to a wedding in early October. Would quite like somethibg knee length or slightly above, preferably covering arms. I dont really like anything too clingy.

I'm asking the impossible aren't I? Oh did I mention, not too heavy on the wallet.

Where are other larger ladies shopping? I'm 36 I don't want to feel like a frump on this day! (Or any other but that requires a more long term solution!)

Off to work, have a wee think mumsnetters. Please.

lady v

Very well made, I've got two.

ProseccoPoppy · 29/08/2018 07:19

Scarlett and Jo! They have a whole website of lovely dresses and go from a 12 to a 32 so you are bang in the middle of their size range (and if you scroll through the pics for each dress they often show it on 2 or 3 women of different sizes - say on a size 16 model, and a size 22 etc so you can get a proper idea how it will look (I am a very busty 14/16 and need stuff I can breastfeed in and they are fab for that too). Prices aren’t bad either.

How about some of these?

Alternatively Joanie clothing go to a 22 and have some excellent dresses in their sale which are really inexpensive - like this for example:

Vitalogy · 29/08/2018 07:21

FlibbertyGiblets Those dresses are nice aren't they, something a bit different too. The prices as well, great. What is the feel of the material like?

Vitalogy · 29/08/2018 07:24

I wouldn't be brave enough to go for the patterned dresses myself but love this one:

I was coming on to say Lady V or Scarlet and Jo!

Vitalogy I have two Lady Vs, they're a thick cotton with slight stretch, so they hang nicely. Even better with a foofy petticoat! They have a mega sale on at the moment, normally around the £50 mark.

OP another good brand, but more expensive, is Studio 8 - Phase 8's plus size line. I've had a couple of dresses from them, they're designed properly for a plus size figure - e.g. straps wide enough to cover bra straps, upper arm coverage - and good quality.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 29/08/2018 07:32

Boden? Bravissimo? Joanie?

FlibbertyGiblets · 29/08/2018 07:35

Vitalogy smooth fabric, a bit thicker than you would think. Mine have a bit of stretch in so you don't feel imprisoned! Loads of darts and panels to give shape even if you're body type is lumpy spud

I got mine last year, worn both lots and lots.

Vitalogy · 29/08/2018 07:59

You'll have to stock up while the sales on! Bargains. Smile

Brambleboo · 29/08/2018 20:10

M&S go up to a 24, and their Curve range even further.

I think a wrap dress might be a good idea. Helps minimise the boobs a bit and flows over the tummy.

Sunnysidegold · 29/08/2018 23:26

Ladies thank you all so much! Plenty to look at there, and loads if new sites to try out.

I feel so much better now, thank you for taking the time to help!

Now to choose!! Those lady v ones have some amazing patterns!!

Naval I are worth a look too.
I have the navy version of the dress up thread and it's one of my favourites.
