'Festival' wedding - what to wear?

I am going to a 'festival' wedding this weekend but have no idea what to wear! We're not camping (it's on a farm) but I do want to get into the spirit of the event - got no idea how though. I am 5'8, size 10 with a small waist but with big bum/thighs and hips - I never wear short skirts (love me a midi dress) or anything thigh-hugging. It's also the footwear that's stressing me - are wellies suitable for a wedding? Cowboy boots? With what?!? Any help gratefully received!

Festival fashion this year is all about sequins and body/face glitter and stick on face jewels. although boho, maxi dresses, flower hair garlands, although all would represent the festival theme too.

Have a look at the Bestival or Latitude festival Instagram from this year for inspiration. It would be easy to do a nod to the theme by wearing plain trousers and an amazing sequin top or jacket. I love this hair band from top shop. Mettalic glittery eye make up.

Footwear - Cheap glittery hi top trainers or buy a plain cheap pair from Primark and customise them, would be good footwear for a farm in all weathers.

Have the b&g definitely said they want a festival style dress code for guests? Dh & I went to a wedding earlier this summer that was on a farm, had camping, invites were styled as 'WedFest' but dress-wise it was a pretty standard wedding. Definitely no wellies! Suits, nice dresses, a few hats.

May be worth checking with the couple before you start shopping?

How about a boho midi dress with boots? And whatever fun accessories you would like to add?

Anthropologie have a sale still going on, Boden have a sale with midi and maxi dresses, Top Shop might have something funky. ASOS have some midi dresses eg this or this

Wellies, esp pretty or fun ones, would play to the Festival theme, even if you choose a conventionally pretty dress. They would be very useful if it is raining, especially if the venue is muddy or you are spending a lot of time outside. ASOS here might be a bit groovier than Joules I guess.

You could take some shoes suitable for dancing if this is going to happen at some point in a dry part of the venue. Perhaps in a small rucksack - very festival. It is handy to have something containing a water-bottle or small snack, in case of delays (very festival). A torch and some loo paper would be authentic Smile. Also perhaps some sort of packable raingear or brolly.

I think of maxis as a bit more festival gear than midis, but again midis would be practical if it is going to be muddy.

Are you taking a hat of some sort?

(Am vicariously enjoying looking. I have been to a number of festivals this summer. But we have given one a miss this weekend, which might be good given the downpour of biblical proportions we have had. It all depends a lot though on whether your friends are thinking of a 60s or 70s inspired festival, or Summer of Love, or are hipsters? The most festival-like wedding we went to was fabulous fun, hope everyone has a good time).
