Help me please! What DO size 16/18s wear to the beach?

Cowardly namechanger!

I am off to the beach tomorrow and DH has promised me a new outfit as I have, ahem, outgrown most of last summers clothes. I would love to think I could wear a dress and flat shoes and actually be comfortable but I don't want to look like a great big beached whale at the same time. Loose white trousers are one idea I had, but they don't have the same coolness as dresses or skirts. Please outfit me head to toe before I go and buy a bright pink crinkle dress and some flip flops!

Size 16 - 18 isn't so big that you'll look like a beached whale.

Wear what you like, and what you feel comfortable in, and to hell with anyone else.

What's your best bit? Have you got good legs? Or arms? tits? Hourglass waist? Your outfits depends on that. If you've got good legs, then a Boden halter-neck 1950s style boy-leg swimsuit, with a kaftan from Monsoon or somewhere jolly over the top, and flipflops, painted nails, lovely hair, big sunnies. If your best bit is yr waist, then New Look, TopShop, Peacocks all have short-sleeved sundresses that come in at the waist. If your arms and shoulders are good, get a maxi dress! The most fahsionable shape of the summer, and it will breezily glide over anything you want to hide.
Personally, I always get a bit tipsy on shandy and go nekkid.

Better? Love the kaftan - tempting to wear a bikini under that and white trousers - what bikini would suit my size do you think?

NotSoSlimFashion · 05/06/2007 13:05

Best bit I'd say is bust. Balances me out, makes me more of an hourglass shape. Legs are a no no, but I do want to get abit of sun and not totally coverup up ie. maxi dress. What colours/features/patterns should I aim for? I mean if I am going to buy a dress for example, I may as well try and get the best one for my body type.

agree with WWB - wear what you like and what you feel comfortable in. Liekt eh top yorkshire pudding sugeested with loose white trousers. I think loose white trousers are teh coolest thing to wear - M&S are doing some at teh moment. Will see if I can find them
