Thanks to everybody who has commented on their childrenswear. Next dh wants to know about the store in general (he's prepping for an interview tomorrow)

How would you say that Monsoon is positioned in the market? Who are their closet competitors and who are their target customers?

Some Monsoon stores do fabulous mens clothes which dh really likes - much broader range and in lovely fabrics than esp places like Next. In that dept closest rival (in dh terms) is Fat Face - great crossover between smart and casual; good range of sizes.

hope your dh gets the mystery job!

good luck to him!

LIZS · 05/06/2007 13:12

love monsoon, perfect classy not too expensive but expensive looking evening wear. They are definately a middle class aspirational high street shop.

toomuchtodo · 06/06/2007 17:43

belo, how did he do?

and whats the job then

Belo · 06/06/2007 18:17

Dh said the interview went really well, but he's not getting excited yet. The guy hinted that he will be getting a 2nd interview and checked his availability (which at the moment is "whenever" as he was made redundant a couple of weeks ago). Fingers crossed still.
Dh also said all the information which was given to him via Mumsnet was invaluable. He said it was brilliant to have all the views of different people about market position. He said it was like having his very own focus group. He said that the information from mintel particularly useful.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! I will be back soon, hopefully with something positive to report (but not getting excited yet).

so are you not going to tell us the job?

you don't have to be specific! eg. store manager could be anywhere!

slalomsuki · 07/06/2007 16:20

Glad to have helped

Let me know if you want anything else for the next round

Belo · 08/06/2007 14:50

Dh didn't get the job. . They said they really liked it, but that they decided to fill it with an internal, and cheaper candidate. It was for Merchandise Manager of Childrenswear. They said that they really liked him and that they were going to keep his details on file.

So, if anybody hears of any Merchandising vacancies.....

Thanks for all of your help though.
