Is it a good idea to buy clothes now in the sale for next year?

Has anyone done this?

I am looking online at some lovely summer dresses and cropped trousers in the sale but the heatwave is over and I will probably not wear them much this year if at all.

Wondering if this is a good idea or not.

It completely depends on how much you are into high fashion, how classic the items are and whether they suit you. If you are an hourglass, then a wrap dress in a colour that suits you might be a good idea. "Lovely summer dresses" are likely to be okay year from year, they are a bit of a staple. Myself, I like a longish flowy skirt in the summer and can't imagine that looking wrong.

If your cropped trousers are low fashion items for walking in the summer, then they might be a good idea for next year. If they are cropped flares, or whatever was supposed to be the latest variant, then they will almost certainly be "so last year " when summer comes round again.

I quite like some cold shoulder tops but wouldn't buy any now, they have had their fashion moment.
