Is it safe to order online with House of Fraser?

I ordered a rather expensive handbag on Sunday. Had an immediate email saying thanks for the order and that they’d email again once it had left the warehouse.

Nothing since and now I’m nervous!

Just because of the take over/possibly going bust thing.

Not great news I’m afraid.

They have them in stock in local store. I’m going and getting one tomorrow and I’m not bloody paying for it!

Can you contact your credit card company and get them to reimburse you?

Ordered via PayPal so I’m hoping they will reimburse. But I really liked the handbag and it’s only available in HoF!

I’d like to be brave enough to go into store tomorrow and tell them I’m taking what I’ve paid for but I know I wouldn’t really dare! So other option is to buy another. But then I’ve paid twice and not sure PayPal will refund? What if the bag eventually turns up and I have two but HoF start refusing returns/refunds?

Apparantly they’re not even allowing people to cancel their orders!

I think a PayPal dispute would sort this for you, or call them to discuss.

Thanks, think it will have to be via PayPal. I’ve read that HoF customer service phones now not manned. Have sent an email but doubt I will get anywhere. Twitter is full of people with no replies, inc some poor person who’s bought a 2k sofa!

Well went to a physical store and got the last one. Have now paid twice and have one bag. Sales assistant isn't confident the other will come. She says they're not getting stock deliveries. I predict that sadly it may not survive Mike Ashley.

open a dispute with PayPal. If HOF doesn't provide a tracking number after certain number of days, PayPal will refund the order.

Yep, PayPal usually extremely helpful in these situations but I’d move quickly. I know you have a long time to raise a disputed, but I’d do it while they are still using PP.

OP may I ask did the store have a sale on or special discounts or was it business as usual?

There were posters up saying sale on but in the handbag dept it was full price business as usual.

Anyway had a generic email saying all orders are cancelled and refund will be processed in a few days. So I'm glad I got it this morning.

I am awaiting this cancellation email from HOF.

Last weekend I did a big order online, using some old birthday vouchers from last year...the order went through and I felt relived that I had finally spent the vouchers!

Not heard a thing from HOF since I got the confirmation email- are my vouchers just lost now?!

Gift vouchers are not being recognised, I read. And your refund goes back into the (useless) gift card

Could you try going into store and using the gift voucher? I went into a store yesterday and the cashier the website was just down and everything is as usual; there are no closures planned.

I'm curious why Mike Ashley went for HOF when he's already growing his Flannels empire. A lot of direct competition, there {strokes chin}

There is no customer service at all .
No contact number to contact anyone .
I ordered on 4th of October and still waiting for order there are no updates what so ever.
House of fraser is acting like fraud small companies where they take money and there is no one you can reach for any problems .
Delivery charge is horrendous aswell
I can't believe having all those high quality brands and they act like some guy opened company in India.
I will 100% avoid house of fraser from now on
