If you're naturally very fair, what do you do about eyebrows?

I'm a low maintenance kind of girl but I go fairly regularly to have my eyelashes tinted and eyebrows tidied . Then apart from a bit of concealer and tinted lip balm, I don't bother with much else.

I have a regular haircut but have never had it coloured as it's almost baby blonde naturally. My eyebrows match.

Every time I go to get my eyebrows waxed they try to persuade me that having them tinted would improve things no end. I've resisted because I hate the current trend for slug like eyebrows and I was worried it would look really unnatural.

Beautician promised she'd do them very light so I decided to have a go. They are light, much lighter than most of the"done" eyebrows you see and I can see that they do make a difference to the way my face looks, but i'm not sure that it's in a good way. They are very obviously dyed (or make it look like my hair is).

Should eyebrows be darker than your hair? Beautician argued that I have lovely eyebrows but you can't see them. I'm not sure that's a problem?

FWIW she didn't charge me as it was her idea.

I have light red hair and my eyebrows are hence very fair too. A few years ago I starting using a great brow pencil-billion dollar brow in Nordic. It’s quite pricey but my last one lasted 3 years with daily use. I once had my eyebrows dyed and it was too harsh for me, and that was just after a few seconds sweep of colour!

Happycow · 13/08/2018 15:33

I'm also very fair and had mine dyed for the first time a couple of weeks ago... I was convinced they were like Alistair Darlings for a few days but reassured by dp they didnt . I do like a bit of extra colour though as I agree with the point that it frames my fat face a bit... I'm going to give that pencil pp mentioned a go I think!

But if you're happy with your brows as they are, there should be no expectation from anyone that they need tinting!

I have red hair and very fair eyebrows. I have them tinted a medium brown and I think it makes a huge difference to my face I don’t think they look out of place. I would look at famous people with similar colouring and see what they do. Then find a really good eyebrow technician.

I'm a redhead with naturally fair skin and pale eyebrows- I started getting mine tinted last year. When I first got them done, like you, I felt like it was too much and they looked very obviously dyed but now I definitely prefer having them done. Having them tinted definitely makes a difference to my face and I do prefer it now- and I am rubbish at penciling them in so tinting is definitely the way forwards for me.

The tint does fade a bit over the first few days- I've just had mine done today and they are a little bit dark for me at the moment but I know by the end of the week they will look great. Maybe live with them for a few days and see how you feel by the end of the week?

Some people do naturally have eyebrows darker than their hair e.g. (natural) blondes with brown eyes often have eyebrows that are a bit darker. So I don't think it automatically looks weird.

But if you don't like it, at least you have tried it now and next time you can say no again.

I'm blonde with fair eyebrows. I use a brow pencil in light brown on them if I'm wearing make up. I have had them tinted but it didn't last very long so wouldn't bother doing it again, the pencil is a much easier option.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 13/08/2018 15:53

I'm blonde with very light brows. I usually tint them so they match my hair colour.
I'm pregnant and don't want to use hair colouring products, so I'm currently using either Mac Omega eye shadow lightly through the hairs and a clear brow gel, or the tinted brow gel in shade 1 from Benefit.

When I've tinted my brows, it looks a bit too much for a day, then it seems to fade to something that looks really nice and very natural IMO.

squashyhat · 13/08/2018 15:55

I ignore them and have done all my life. I have a fringe which covers them anyway.

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 13/08/2018 16:07

They're not at their tidiest today, but here - have a weird eyebrow only picture Grin

At the nasal end, mine are pretty much non existent, and what is there is very pale. I'll see if I can dig out a picture minus makeup in a sec. So dyeing them wouldn't help much as it's the lack of hair that is the main issue...

For make up, mine have lines drawn in with pencil, then coloured with powder, then clear gel on top of that.

Here we go, no make up...

I'm blond and fair and use Glossier Boy Brow in Fair - it is expensive for such a small tube but it's SO easy to use and natural looking I really rate it.

Tentomidnight · 13/08/2018 16:38

I have similar colouring and invisible eyebrows. I use an NYX eyebrow pencil, in Taupe. I’ve had them tinted a few times but prefer to use subtle makeup in just the right shade.

OlennasWimple · 13/08/2018 16:38

I use a very soft eyebrow pencil only if I am wearing other makeup beyond concealer and mascara. I feel a bit self-conscious, but have also had some positive compliments (not on my eyebrows specifically, but a "you have done something different, it looks really nice" type thing)

canthavethenameiwant · 13/08/2018 17:02

I'd definitely try tinting! My teen is very fair and has hers tinited, not slug style! They look lovely and it makes a massive difference
They fade, it's not permanent so worth a go?

canthavethenameiwant · 13/08/2018 17:03

Whoops sorry read thru and you did get them tinted
