Will using semi permanent blonde hair colour cover my greys if I have red hair?

I've been lucky that I'm 47 and have a few greys but thinking about what I can do in the future. I have red hair and was thinking about using a blonde semi permanent hair dye to cover the grey which in theory should cover the grey and give me a highlighted look. Would that work? I haven't coloured my hair for over twenty years so am a bit clueless.

Worst case scenario is that your hair will go more of a bright orangey colour...

The thing with semi-permanent is that IME, it never actually washes out fully!

I don't know if I'd mess around with dying my own hair a lighter colour, as it's always more risky than dying it a darker colour myself

Annalogy thanks I thought it might have been an easy low maintenance option. In the past I used a henna mix which gave a champagne colour which worked quite well.

Ooh that's nice, actually! Definitely go for it if it's worked out nicely before Smile
