Going on hols abroad next week we live in very north of England and apart from a little colour on face and arms I am white as a sheet.

I haven’t used a sunved for almost 30 years to to worries about skin cancer and ageing.

DH has suggested we get a couple of sun bed sessions in before we go as a base and to even our skin colour our as he is the same. WWYD or would you use a pre tanning cream or a fake tan and if so which are good ones?

No from me for sunbeds, I have had way too many moles removed now just get a light fake tan.

Either a spray or a one you put on as a moisturiser and let it build up.

Or dont bother, I would not care what anyone thinks if Im pale

I’m abroad at the moment and within a couple of days any newbs bronze up

I wouldn’t worry - people are far more interested in themselves than you

And even if they do look at you and think “pasty” for a day or two then you give them a bit of holiday schadenfreude which everyone loves

I’m using P20 which is fab and the first three days slathered one DC in factor 50 as he was v pasty. No burning despite constant 34 degree sunshine

Have a lovely holiday

Get some Palmers Cocoa Butter gradual tanner, it’s fab, you just slap it on. Or just don’t worry about it.

Todamhottoday - thank you years ago we all used sunbeds thanks for the sensible advice and reminding me why I don’t.

Taffeta - we self and DH always use P20 factor 30 and don’t have a massive colour change after a fortnight. With age my legs have got fatter so I thought a tan or a fake tan on them might make them look slimmer.

Thanks Haverhill - is the palmers a bit like the dove self tan?

I have heard something about some sort of pre tanning lotion you put on a week or so before holiday to help you tan quicker when away but thinking about it, it’s probably as equally dangerous as sun beds and sun.

I haven't used the Palmers gradual tan but have heard good things. I use Garnier summer body which is absolutely brilliant and as long as you get the LIGHT version, never goes wrong. Don't use sunbeds!

Walz, yes in the very distant past I did use sunbeds as they were the new thing then. Im very pale and now living in a very hot country, where pale is good!

I used to get a bit of a complex about being pale, but as I say too many thankfully benign moles removed. And Im am very sun aware cover up well and high factor thats me.

But the new self tans are great, not tried the Palmers one but everyone raves about it.

Go away not giving a monkey chuff about your skin colour and just enjoy your jollys!

Todamhottoday and all thanks

Palmers is great because you see decent results from the first time but you don’t have to faff with exfoliating because it’s essentially a body lotion. Smells nice too.
