Picked one up in store today as I know people rave about Liz Earle. Anyone tried it? Will I be disappointed?

I tried it, it was ok. Prefer the Superdrug one as a dupe for LE though!

NapQueen · 06/08/2018 22:52

Oh I will look out for the Superdrug one.

I like the Boots No. 7 one - not sure if it's meant to be a dupe of anything. It's a medium sized pump action bottle with creamy cleanser inside that you apply after removing make-up, then leave on for 3 mins. or more, and a cloth which you can run under hot water, then wring out and lay over your face (with the creamy cleanser already applied to the face) so that it steams slightly, then rinse out the cloth in lukewarm water and use it to remove the cleanser, finishing with a splash of cool water. Pat dry gently with a towel then apply moisturiser, serum, or whatever you use. I really like this cleanser and find it quite mild.

Tried it. Made my eyes sting. I prefer the no 7 one, it's the best cleanser I've ever used.

Apileofballyhoo · 06/08/2018 23:01

I got it and thought it was good for the price. I was using the LE Rose and Geranium though and that's much better for my skin. I got the proper LE eucalyptus one afterwards and I don't think it's much better than the Aldi one considering the price difference. Possibly slightly more moisturising.

Daisymay2 · 06/08/2018 23:02

Like the Boots No 7 cleanser but think their eye make up remover is not very good. Superdrug one is good - interested in comments about Aldi too,

LockedOutOfMN · 06/08/2018 23:15

Daisymay2 I like Lancôme eye make-up remover. Very gentle, and effective.

Bunnybobtails · 06/08/2018 23:19

I thought it was more like Liz Earle than anything else I've used, possibly more strongly scented. Does the job though and DD is happy with it. I prefer the LE rose and lavender version as I find it gentler than the original on my sensitive skin.

evilharpy · 07/08/2018 06:35

I love the Aldi version. It suits my skin very well and smells amazing.

Daisymay2 · 07/08/2018 09:52

Thanks for the tip about Lancome eye make up remover Locked out . I used to like the Olay cream one but it seems to have been discontinued.
I only use the hot cloth at night. I use the Aldi moisturising face wash in the morning, which I really like. I found hot clothing twice a day was a bit too harsh on my aging skin! However hot clothng has worked for me- the blackheads on my nose etc seem to have been diminished, Like the Aldi soy serum as well. Think I am going to have to try the Aldi hot cloth!
I tried the Waitrose Pure hot cloth cleaner as well- I thought it was a bit gritty

LockedOutOfMN · 07/08/2018 11:03

Daisymay2 If you go to a Lancôme counter they should be able to give you a mini sample of the eye make-up remover to try at home (or if you don't mind, you can always try it in store).

BroomstickOfLove · 07/08/2018 11:05

I love the Aldi one. I bulk bought it last time it came out, which is good as I missed it this time round. A lot of the other similar cleansers have ingredients I'm allergic to, so it's always great when I find something cheap and usable.

CutesyUserName · 07/08/2018 15:30

I use the Aldi one and like Broom, bulk-bought when it last came out. I've never used the LE or any other hot cloth cleanser, so can't compare. However, I like the Aldi one and it seems to do the job. My skin feels clean and refreshed after using it and the muslim cloth lasts and lasts.

CutesyUserName · 07/08/2018 15:31

Gah, muslin, not muslim! Blush

sociopathsunited · 07/08/2018 18:21

I love the Superdrug Vitamin E hot cloth cleanser, it works beautifully on my sensitive skin. What's the verdict on the No 7 and Aldi versions if you're pretty allergic (think swollen eyes, peeling skin and looking like a scalded rat till the inflammation goes away).

porky1000 · 07/08/2018 18:24

I love the Aldi one. Much nicer than the Superdrug version IMO and definitely on par with Liz Earle.
