Novice ladygardener needs pruning advice

I will not ever never wax down there.

have tried shaving round the bikini line and made a bodge job of it and the regrowth was so painful it's unreal.

How do I go about pruning the bushes so to speak without waxing or being in itchy pain?

I wax, and in between waxing, use an electric bikini shaver.

get a professional wax when the hair is long enough.

I have been waxing so long, I can now do it myself, but yes, start with professionals.
