HELP!!! Flying to Spain on Saturday for a wedding and still don't have an outfit!!

You may recall a while ago I posted a pic of a yellow dress I had ordered? well basically, last night I decided I just don't feel comfortable in it. I know it's a nice dress but it's just not me, if that makes sense.

I found these Miss KG shoes reduced to £19 and fell in love with them so now I'm trying to get a dress to match. I've ordered all of these dresses which are arriving at some point today so we'll see if they fit etc. But I just wanted your opinion on whether you think the shoes will work with the dresses? And if there's any particular combination you think might work? The red dress is a bit of a wildcard if I'm honest. I'm a red head and often don't suit red so we'll see.

Opinions/advice much appreciated!

Thank you all!

Another dress. Link rather than photo as mumsnet won't let me upload any more images.

They would all work, white and metallics go with everything - if you like them just order them all and then return the ones you don't like.

MargoLovebutter · 02/08/2018 09:39

A bikini! It is going to be 47 degrees in some parts of Spain this weekend.

Joking aside, think hard about the material, as anything synthetic will make you sweat like a pig in the dessert.

Could you find something in linen?

It's been an absolute disaster trying to find anything to wear for this wedding. I've been so busy sorting out the kids and everything they need. I've ordered about 25 dresses and hated them all 😩 it's been so stressful. I'm past the point of caring if I'm too hot. As long as I'm wearing clothes, I'll be happy 😂

I feel your pain Happyland8. It is so hard to make suggestions, as I don't know what size or shape you are, but I just Googled linen dresses and lots of options came up at House of Fraser: www.houseoffraser.co.uk/women/dresses/linen/03.301.0.0.0064127.21.pl

Happyland8 · 02/08/2018 09:53

Thanks Margo, but I think I'm a little late to place more orders and grudge paying the next day delivery. I have annual next day delivery with asos so that's why I've ordered with them. The dress I put the link up to is probably the lightest looking of the 4 dresses I've ordered! Let's hope it looks nice on 🤞🏻

Fingers crossed - they look lovely.

LoniceraJaponica · 02/08/2018 10:01

They all look lovely, although I am not so keen on the strapless one.

I am on holiday now in temperatures of around 30 degrees, and would find anything as fitted as those dresses extremely uncomfortable. It really does make a huge difference wearing looser fitting clothes in this heat.

Happyland8 · 02/08/2018 10:05

I know you're right but I'm at a point where those dresses are all the choice I have so I'm going to have to pick one.

If it's that hot, it's going to make zero difference what you wear (okay, maybe dont wear wool or head to toe tight polyester!). My tip would be: wear your hair up and use a good setting spray for your face. Bring a facial spray mist thingy and lots of water!

Elledorado · 02/08/2018 10:54

I dont love any of the dresses but would go for the strapless. The high necks on the other blue ones put me off and I hate red so am biased. Totally depends on your figure I think!!

Baxdream · 02/08/2018 11:02

I went to a wedding in Spain last year. I wore this . I highly recommend having something that isn't tight. This was perfect as the skirt kicked out so my legs were cool

Is it a British couple having a destination beach type wedding or is it ain a church? I would not have been allowed over the threshold of my Spanish Aunt's/cousin's weddings in strapless or even strappy. Very formal Catholic church no shoulders on display (my aunt wore a shawl over her wedding dress and it wasn't revealing/strappy dress). I would go for something loose and natural fibre as it is going to be very hot. If the the choice is absolutely from the ones you have posted above then which ever looks best on you and if it is a Catholic wedding one of the first two blue ones.

Happyland8 · 02/08/2018 11:50

It's not in a church and it's a very relaxed informal event Smile so should be okay with strappy.

Depends whether it's a Spanish wedding in Spain, or an English destination wedding. Dress code for Spanish weddings can actually more formal than English weddings, with a lot of people wearing full length maxis (the kind of things you would see at proms). If it's destination and casj, you deffo want something floaty.

Bombardier25966 · 02/08/2018 13:17

If it's informal I wouldn't go for any of those options, they're all a bit Scouse day at the races. Sorry. And from the styles I'm guessing you've got a great figure. If you're flying on Saturday then do a next day delivery order from John Lewis/ House of Fraser etc and look for something less synthetic, and less brutal shoes. Think floaty and light, not restricted and tight.

Happyland8 · 02/08/2018 13:31

By informal, I meant that the bride & groom are extremely relaxed people. There will be people in kilts, there will be people in shorts, there will be people in linen suits. There will be ladies in flats and floaty maxi's, there will be people in heels. I'm not worried in the slightest about dress code Smile

I'm confused - what is it you are looking for advice on?

LockedOutOfMN · 02/08/2018 15:41

I like the blue dress with the cap sleeves best, but all 3 in the pictures are lovely.

Agree with the previous poster's suggestion to wear your hair up and off you face (a braided style would be perfect). A sun hat for the outdoor parts is also recommended - just pick up one from Accessorize at the airport or even a local shop if you're arriving before the event.

Wear comfortable shoes...all weddings involve standing around and Spanish ones even more so.

If it fits, pop a small bottle of water in your bag. There is a heatwave here at the moment and everyone's finding it too hot.

AdaColeman · 02/08/2018 15:51

I think the prettiest is the blue with the heart shaped neck and lace overlay, and it would be fine with the shoes you like.

You will certainly need a sunhat if you are outside.

YukonGold · 02/08/2018 17:30

The Asos floral bandeau midi dress is gorgeous

ilikesalad · 02/08/2018 19:03

Spanish wife your suggestions look great and more airy

Hogtini · 02/08/2018 19:40

Love spanishwife's suggestions. Definitely more romantic/weddingy and floaty. That Oasis one you posted is weird on the boobs.
