Skincare advice - why do I suddenly have the skin of a 15-year-old?

Basically as the title suggests- for the last month or so my face is constantly covered in a fine sheen of grease. I have blocked pores, blackheads, pimples, red blemishes - the works. It’s grim. And I have literally no idea what has caused it. I’ve had no changes to skin-care routine, mostly as I didn’t have one, beyond ‘wash face with flannel and whatever soap is available’. That’s worked perfectly well for the last couple of years though!

I’ve used skincare products in the past - Boots botanicals and Simple cleanser - and have tried those again since this started, but they seem to make it worse rather than better. The only thing I can think is it might be hormonal, but I’ve been in a steady state breastfeeding with no periods for the last year, and there is no change to that either. Definitely not pregnant.

Any suggestions as to the root cause, or recommendations for products to try to solve it, would be very welcome!

Have you looked at the skincare threads? This is the latest one and it has links to all the previous ones. Basically there's a lot of info on ingredients and root causes.

At a guess I think you might be suffering from a damaged skin barrier and dehydrated skin, causing the skin to overproduce oil. You don't give info on whether you use sunscreen, makeup, how you remove it or if your skin feels tight after washing - more info needed I think! But I recommend the threads, pretty much everything has been covered. :)

When you said the skin of a 15-year-old, I was thinking you meant all youthful and peachy ( was thinking, what's to complain about?).
I am a fan of Liz Earle skincare.

It's this heat! (I'm assuming your in the uk??) it seems to be affecting lots of people's skin due to excess sweating etc. Try and make sure your cleansing well with a non foaming cleanser and hydrating lightly.

Are you menopausal?

I was another one thinking ‘ooh that’s amazing, I wonder what her secret is’ but I had fab skin at 15!
The heat?

Well I'm just glad it's not in a buffalo bill way.

It's most likely just the heat.

Try a serum containing niacinamide, I get mine from a brand called the ordinary its very inexpensive and I have lovely clear skin now.
