Dress ideas for Summer Ball please? Need to dress to impress!!

Been invited to a Summer Ball in June which is being hosted by the company I used to work for.

I am on the lookout for a new role so it will be a really good networking event....

Would also like to make an impression as I am now young free and single again!

I'm not sure about the whole full length ball gown thing. Seems a bit ott for me? Would like something simple but classy. But is knee length or three quarter length a big no-no for a ball?

Any ideas of dresses.... or even which shops to visit, would be very much appreciated! Thanks

Try Monsoon.

Monsoon evening dresses

Had really quick look round Monsoon yesterday but it seemed to be lots of really bright ott patterns... may have a look online if they have a web site...

go to tkmaxx
looks like jumble sale but get everything in your size short, long etc and try on - keep open mind
you WILL find somthing and there is no danger someone else got it like in monsoon

oh no never even thought about the idea of having the same as someone else...

running out of time too...

Lucky you! I went to one last year and worried about what to wear. I got a black calf length dress from coast which I have even been able to wear since!

mylittlestar · 31/05/2007 12:58

Coast - good idea. Don't think I've ever been in there as never needed anything that 'posh'! I will have a look

thanks

yes thought that too. got quite a nice black dress at home which is knee length but just didn't seem right for a 'ball'...

thinking three quarter would be good - no chance of tripping over it but very sophisticated!!

We are only allowed to wear full length dresses for the summer balls. You don't have to do the full dress experience though, a long slinky number loks really elegant.

mylittlestar · 31/05/2007 15:09

long slinky number... would that involve big knickers to hold tummy in... or no knickers to avoid VPL!! So confusing!!

Going to head to trafford centre on way home tonight I think and try some things on...
