help

I love these trousers but they look completely stupid with every pair of shoes I have

I have a few pairs of trainers but when I wear these trousers with trainers, I don't look all jaunty and insouciant like the moddle, it looks so incongruous, trainsers with work trousers, it looks so wrong!

They definitely need trainers.

ConkerTriumphant · 29/07/2018 18:41

Or loafers

Wellhellothere101 · 29/07/2018 18:51

Flatform loafers

LoughingLikeAShark · 29/07/2018 18:53

YY to loafers. Or you could go with wedge-heeled trainers or even metallic heels...

MoltonSilver · 29/07/2018 19:20

Loafers.

makeupmaven · 29/07/2018 19:27

Trainers would totally work but the rest of the outfit has to be fairly casual too. Like a half-tucked T-shirt and a denim jacket.

Try a chunky-soled white trainer. I like the Reebok Classic Nylons or the Nike Tanjuns.

specialsubject · 29/07/2018 19:39

wotsername the fashion columnist in the times wears those with staggering heels and looks ludicrous. trainers!

MadMaryBoddington · 29/07/2018 19:47

Sliders. With a chunky sole.

sunshineseaside · 29/07/2018 20:49

I have seen two people wearing similar to these today - one had plain leather style sliders on and the other had black leather crossover sliders on. Looked v nice xx

Oly5 · 29/07/2018 21:19

I’d only wear flip flops with them!

YaLoVeras · 29/07/2018 21:29

Oh thank you for the replies. I was just looking at loafers on zalando but I don't see any I really like. They're all a bit .......................underwhelming.

So maybe I will wear them with black trainers. And hope that that doesn't look too weird.

Loafers or brogues (Clarks quiet often have nice ones) or marks and Spencer we're doing a nice high cut flat pump in bright colours (to pick up stripe)

CountFosco · 29/07/2018 23:18

Do you have the navy ones with the stripe? They are awesome trousers and I may have to buy them now. Agree trainers are the obvious choice but brogues or loafers also good. No heels!

DULLDull · 29/07/2018 23:20

I pinned these on Pinterest today and was thinking of wearing them with black Nike trainers.

YaLoVeras · 30/07/2018 06:48

Yes i have the black ones with red stripe. They might be a v dark navy. When they arrived they surprised me by being black Grin
I wish I had purple trainers. Or white/multi

MrsMaryMooFace · 30/07/2018 06:56

I think a classic trainer like Stan Smith or Converse or a leather slider as someone said above Smile

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/07/2018 07:06

I have very dark navy trousers, similar style but with a faint pinstripe so more for work. The colour is a pain in the arse. You can't wear black or navy with them. I've gone with grey as mine are more workerwear but agree with style advice above. Good luck with finding a suitable colour. Your job is harder because of the red.
