American Apparel sizing

it's a bit confusing would a medium fit a size 12/14 or do they come up small?

This has changed a lot in the last few years. Each manufacturer does things a little differently, but a good rule of thumb is to add 4 to the US size - so a US 12 is a UK 16. The last US item I bought had M as US 12/14, so UK 16/18.

the site does have uk sizing but i'm still lost

American Apparel is small fitting. At least that is my experience. I wear an XS normally in US clothes (6-8 UK), but found the AA t-shirt very clingy. I know that is supposed to be their style but it did feel very small.

so maybe i should go for the large or extra large!
