Help! Suit needed ...

I have just been into my local city centre to try and buy a suit for a very important and formal interview which could be any time between 7 August and mid sept. Help! I am a pear shape and all the dresses are pencil dresses, skirts ditto. Trousers don't work in my shape either. I have been to Hobbs, John Lewis, etc but nothing. Even m and s and next had nothing. I am going to London next weekend so could go shopping there. Any suggestions?

Personal shopping appointments now booked in for Saturday at The Fold and John Lewis. Thanks for the suggestions! I will report back if people are interested.

Please let us know how you get on. Also, it may not be very helpful, but I live in a very small town in Devon, and the "posh frock shop" locally has a great many professional women as clients so buys very specifically to dress them, and while her selection is usually dark and sedate, what she buys is rarely boring. If you can find the equivalent near you, your problem is solved forever.

Arcadia · 23/07/2018 20:07

Sounds lovely xingming I love boutiques in little towns! But unfortunately I am going for boring in this occasion!

Oh sorry I read that as not dark and sedate!

Have you looked at Arket? Regent St. Part of the Cos group. Some very smart tailoring there and the fabric is good.

Oohhh well done that looks perfect. Is that in John Lewis?

Arcadia · 29/07/2018 17:53

Yes. Almost perfect but it is a wool blend - and can make me itch. Nothing else fitted though!

Arcadia · 29/07/2018 17:53

It's Reiss

Vairy good. I approve, not that you care, but it says poised, professional and "courant".

Arcadia · 29/07/2018 18:39

Thanks xingming I do care it's lovely to have people's feed back and being interested!

Lovely suit OP idly wondering whether I can fit my Shetland pony behind into a dress like that definitely judge-worthy!

dramaqueen · 29/07/2018 20:35

May I ask how your persona shopping appointment went at the Fold? I've always thought about going there to look for dresses.

Arcadia · 29/07/2018 20:35

Seriously riceandpeas my arse is huuuuuuuuge! So maybe?!

clownfaces · 29/07/2018 20:38

OP - that looks lovely on you. Very professional. Good luck Thanks

Arcadia · 29/07/2018 20:40

dramaqueen to my disappointment I didn't make it there in the end for convoluted reasons I won't bore you with, but might try and get there in the next few weeks. Tbh it looks a bit intimidating on the website but they were very friendly on the phone and the dresses look amazing!
The John Lewis lady was lovely I would go there again.

moreginrequired · 29/07/2018 20:50

Wit woo!!!

Looks fantastic, and very professional! Good luck with the interview!

Beingthere · 29/07/2018 21:04

How tall are you OP?

(Coverts outfit)

Arcadia · 29/07/2018 21:31

Thanks for the nice comments, I am 5' 4.5""! My legs are only good up to the knees! And I didn't buy those shoes as they were £££ and too high for me, am going to get something a bit more sensible for the interview.

Any update OP? Just debating applying for something I've seen come up that's similar and I'm not sure I'm brave enough ☺️

Arcadia · 16/08/2018 22:33

OMG it was traumatic!!!!! In short I don't think I got it - obsessing over what I did wrong and won't find out til February, torture! Have briefly considered chucking in my whole career as a result!

On the positive side I was by far the smartest person there that I saw! One lady had sandals on 😳
