I got carried away listening to friends talking about their exhaustive skincare regimes and I booked myself in for a proper fancypants facial and one of those salons where they offer you green tea in the waiting room.
I fancied microdermabrasion but the consultant said it would be better to do some sort of deep enzyme face mask to really "cleanse below the surface of the skin" (which, in retrospect, doesn't sound as convincing as it seemed at the time).
It was lovely. All hot flannels and dramatically swooshing various lotions and potions across my face.
But now I'm $100 down and the truth is I look EXACTLY the same. Every pore is exactly as it was before the treatment. I smell a bit nicer, possibly, so there's that. Was I naive to think I might come out looking like a younger Scarlet Johansen?
