Boden- not uploading negative reviews- tut tut!

I recently reviewed a new dress and gave it 3 *s. This is from the new autumn dresses. They have listed my star rating but not the review itself which was quite negative in terms of the sizing (huge and shapeless) . I've noticed this for a while; the items have a star rating then in small print it says 'from xxx number of reviews' - yet the are only showing around 10 reviews /comments.

This is NEW. I've bought from Boden for 25 years and they always used to show ever single review good and bad. I think it's really bad because reviews make a difference to how I order, especially when their sizing is all over the place.

That's poor show. I buy from Boden and rely on the reviews a lot.

I was complaining about the erratic nature of the reviews (coming and going) recently and they said they were having tech issues - mind you this was about 6 weeks ago so you'd think it would be resolved by now Confused

nothingwittyhere · 18/07/2018 14:23

I told them I couldn't sort reviews and they cited tech issues with reviews - but this was many weeks or months ago!

This is interesting as I can never get more than 3 reviews to display on my iPad. Maybe it's on purpose? I too rely on reviews as I can't get to a JL to see things an only buy online ( all my clothes). The also have stopped answering questions eg I asked ages ago if a specific new style of jeans was going to be in petite. The used to reply really fast. I've been a loyal customer since 1994

Oh so it's not just me! I'm really fed up with only being able to access a certain number of reviews on my iPad. Their website is the worst I've known it in 10 years. I've also noted a real deterioration in the quality of the product too.

NicoAndTheNiners · 19/07/2018 06:46

M&S are the same. I did a perfectly polite review for a top once where I said the material was very thin and it hung awful. They refused to publish it and said it didn’t meet “standards”. Wtf!

carbuckety · 20/07/2018 08:17

marylou I'm really reliant on boden for clothes as I know they fit me and I can't get out very often to do returns. I pretty much hardly ever buy full price and use discounts and sales for basics like jeans and t shirts. I think they have gone down but I do know they are 'okay' with occasionally something really good ( like their twill velvet jeans last year). It's a shame because they had a really good corner of the market and although they say the are trying for a younger more trendy customer now, they've got me and so many ither 55-65 year olds I know! Theybhave finery, mint velvet, hush now I guess as competitors

I reviewed a tan boyfriend cardigan a few years ago and said that it made me look as if I should be sucking a Werther’s Original. Grin

They didn’t upload that one, even though I am a loyal customer and wear loads of Boden!

Celtic & Co were the same when I had an issue with some stupidly expensive 'winter boots' that might as well have been sandals for the amount of water they kept out.

Ended up getting a full refund and keeping the boots though.

While they're all jumping through hoops for GDPR, they shouldn't be skewing the reviews in their favour. Is this the next thing to be regulated for consumers?

flopsyandjim · 21/07/2018 09:21

is it not something to be reported to the advertising standards or something? Maybe if we all complained, something would be done?

I bought my first top from Boden recently, definitely wasn't cheap, yet the button came off in the first week (not because it's too tight, it fits great).

carbuckety · 21/07/2018 09:31

The advertising authority only deal with adverts. And reviews on a website aren't an advert. But yes complain, tell magazines, bloggers? I do like Boden stuff as I think the quality is excellent and I do still wear stuff that is über 10 years old. Got a sale parcel today if a basic cardigan and yet another pair of shorts for my husband. I do go to hush now as well quite often but I'm limited anyway to only online stores as I'm virtually housebound by having a very sick (long term) daughter. But I still want to look nice!
