I would, but I often find that things that I like only come in one or two colours, generally either cool and warm, or, cool and neutral. I can't wear cool colours as I look like I have recently drowned when I do.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 15/07/2018 20:29

I'd like to, but I'm very particular about what colours I wear, so often not. I will buy the same colour several times over though.

madeyemoodysmum · 15/07/2018 20:31

If it fits really well and is fairly classic then yes. Something faddy . No.

DryHen · 15/07/2018 21:33

Yes, I also buy the same item in the same colour Smile I have five pairs of identical jeans, and two x two pairs of identical boots. Last week I bought a blue t-shirt, went back and bought another the same but in turquoise, then bought another blue one (only £5 each).

Oly5 · 15/07/2018 22:08

Yes if it’s a jumper or t shirt I like and is a good quality basic

Tatapie · 15/07/2018 23:11

Definitely! Why not? Grin

AnaViaSalamanca · 15/07/2018 23:18

I do this, sometimes two of my fav color too so that I can wear one with peace of mind!

NapQueen · 15/07/2018 23:21

I have a really cheap light sleeveless top from Primark in about 6 different colours. I have two in the navy as I was in town anyway, had a night out that night and couldnt remeber if the navy one was in the wash so for 4 quid I just bought a second one.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 15/07/2018 23:24

All the time.

Sometimes two of the same, occasionally three, if I find it in the sale.

SummerWinter · 15/07/2018 23:27

Always. I never wear them all the same amount though showing how colour is as important as shape

Tigresswoods · 15/07/2018 23:29

Not often but I bought FatFace Chelsea boots in grey & brown recently.

GrainneWail · 15/07/2018 23:31

I recently bought the same dress in two different colours. I didn't love one of the colours so dyed it to one I preferred Smile. I've a few duplicates, some in the same and/or other colours.

CountFosco · 16/07/2018 06:43

I'm doing this less than I use to. I see the point of doing it with trousers but for tops not so much and for dresses or shoes never. Although I do have the Boden cropped cashmere cardigan in a couple of colours but that's because I buy one most seasons in a different colour.

WonderfulWonders · 16/07/2018 09:43

Not so much different colours but I do occasionally buy two of an item that is a really keeper.

Problem is often I don't realise how fabulous the item is until it's no longer available.

I recently bought three pair shoes of the same court shoe. I am really particular about shoes and love the louboutin piggalle but given the wear my heals get couldn't justify a new pair every year.

I found a similar style recently for a fraction of the price so bought three pairs.

pennycarbonara · 16/07/2018 09:55

Used to a lot. Mostly managed to knock it on the head when I cut my spending habits. Did only last year with some shoes, but I find it very difficult to get shoes that fit. There are also fewer colours I like, which suit and are easy to wash are in at the moment: it seems amazing now that I actually used to be able to find 5+ colours I wanted of the same top. Late 90s/early 00s there were a lot of dark jewel colours about, and it was great. Now often just navy and khaki. Bored of so much fucking navy. Getting to that age too where black and grey can easily look draining in a way they didn't used to.

pennycarbonara · 16/07/2018 09:55

I also buy a lot more second hand so multiples aren't as accessible that way.

MaudesMum · 16/07/2018 10:49

Yup. When I was fat(ter) I did it more because it was so rare to find clothes that I could fit into which I actually liked. So I ended up with a collection of 5 or 6 floaty plain shirts from Cos, as every time they came out in a different colour I'd grab one. Now I'm mainly doing it with items that I like which won't date and taking advantage of sales to stock up at reduced price - especially with jeans, but also particular styles of shorts/t-shirts.

1moreglassplease · 16/07/2018 11:29

I've been doing this quite a bit lately, particularly if I can buy a neutral and a brighter colour that suits in the same style or if they are a flattering shape and colour and I can wear them with things already in my wardrobe. Just bought a second dress in the same style but different colour because I liked the first one so much.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 16/07/2018 11:39

not often, but have never regretted doing it. generally simple basics like work shirts, flat work shoes, plain jumpers.

Judydreamsofhorses · 16/07/2018 11:54

I do this with shoes/boots because my feet are small and comically wide, so finding something to fit can be a quest. Also a bit with knitwear. I am less likely to buy a lot in summer, full stop, because often the weather’s not nice enough to get much wear from things.

MagicFajita · 16/07/2018 11:58

Yes , and so does dh. I've noticed that most 30+ people do it. I think when you know what suits you and you find it , it just makes sense.

Sittingonaspindryer · 16/07/2018 12:03

Yes. Have recently bought 4 cowl neck linen tops for the summer because the style suits me so I bought one in each colour way once they were in the sale.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/07/2018 12:10

I do it with basics like tshirt sand vest tops (living in lands end petite vest tops so far this summer!)

My DD has at least half a dozen pairs of identical black skinnies (or as near as possible, given the styles get changed a bit and she's had to replace a few)

GrainneWail · 16/07/2018 12:18

@Sittingonaspindryer, would you pls link to the tops?

Sittingonaspindryer · 16/07/2018 12:56

They only have one colour left and in a size 20. Sorry.
