What did you/are you wearing to dc's graduation ceremony?

Just looking for some inspiration really.
Dc's graduation is end of September.
I'm 5'6", size 10, not very formal generally so nothing too uncomfortable in all senses.
All help gratefully received!
Oh and not forgetting shoes... I'm a DM or Vans wearer generally and don't possess heels so need to be realistic!

It may depend on the university but dc graduated from Leeds last week and I wore a black cotton summer dress from Cos and flat black sandals, dh wore a suit. The general look was summer dress in many forms as it was a lovely day but nothing too formal, not wedding like. Many men didn't wear suits, some graduands wore jeans and doc martens though not many. End of September is often still warm, I've done this twice now and I'd say don't stress.

Nice dress. There were all sorts at DD's from shorts and t shirts to full on mother of the bride.

I'm wearing a black Next linen dress and nice sandals. Will take a linen jacket. Will dress it up with nice jewellery/bag.
Don't want to spend money on something new because I am losing weight and don't want to buy something I won't wear again.
I had something a bit more 'weddingy' for dh's graduation (phase eight floral fitted dress) and felt too mother of the bride.
Am going more casual and comfortable this time.

I bought this for another occasion but wonder if you think it would be okay?

I think it's lovely.

Thank you! I haven't had a dress that fits so beautifully as that in ages (I have broad shoulders and no hips) and this could've been made to measure Smile

Yes that dress is perfect!

Depends on the uni really. My uni was known for its wealthy students and posh buildings, so people tended to dress up. But many of my friends went to more casual unis where some mums just wore a nice blouse and shorts!

I went to ds graduation today and had a good look at what everyone was wearing. There were lots of nice summer dresses, some women wore more Coast like dresses. Students were more dressed up than mums. Most women wore high heeled sandals.

Thanks all. Really helpful Smile

That’s lovely (and very similar in style to what I wore to DD’s graduation).
