Politics entirely aside... Theresa May looks fucking fabulous!

On BBC news channel now, giving Trump the pomptastic palace treatment. I hope I'll glam it up like that in my 60s.

Sleeveless is unflattering. Her posture is awful. This is better, but too short for black tie. Could do with better under garments) but interesting neckline, sleeves.

I hope they're not having anything as pedestrian as gravy pickachew, well let's hope so anyway for Melania's sake!

Agree she always looks like she can barely hide her revulsion for the Donald - well you would wouldn't you.

I can't see past her dreadful hunchback tbh.

Notcontent · 12/07/2018 22:49

I think TM looks great ! I am not a Tory supporter and was in fact slightly dismayed when she became PM but women in politics (or in the public eye in general actually) get so much criticism for their looks... it’s crazy.... Why can’t we say nice things about other women?

MoltonSilver · 12/07/2018 22:59

Her posture is her posture. It would be the same in any outfit. It's not really relevant in critiquing the dress.

Cheerbear23 · 12/07/2018 23:04

TM really gets her colours right and she has some fab jewellery. (I may have copied her thick silver chain necklace) Grin

2up2manydown · 12/07/2018 23:07

Can’t she stand up straight? Has her spine set like that or can she still correct it?? Shoulders back, chest out, set the pelvis...

OlennasWimple · 12/07/2018 23:09

In some pictures I've seen the colour is really terrible on her, but in a couple it looks OK. I hope it was great in real life. I agree it looks better from the side than the front.

I loved MT's dress, but it would have been better on the shoulder than off

Nettletheelf · 12/07/2018 23:09

Theresa looks bloody great. I don’t agree that the high necked/sleeveless shape is always unflattering: on tall, slim people with broad shoulders and good arms (like TM) it looks fab.

Excellent shoes, too.

I am so glad that she aced it. She is sticking two fingers up to that awful man by looking fabulous.

PickAChew · 12/07/2018 23:12

can't see past her dreadful hunchback tbh.

Because that is such an active fashion choice Hmm

I have similar, inherited from my mum. I hate it and it aches a lot. So sorry that the sight of it is so offensive to your poor delicate constitution, though.

PickAChew · 12/07/2018 23:14

I used to have a lovely straight back, too.

Boooommm · 12/07/2018 23:14

It's a beautiful dress but when she walks it looks awful. From the front it looks like a robot.

Bombardier25966 · 12/07/2018 23:16

Why can’t we say nice things about other women?

Maybe ask the woman that has persistently implemented policies that disproportionately punish other women.

Respect is earned, not granted solely by virtue of gender.

Bombardier25966 · 12/07/2018 23:22

Couldn't resist!

goingtotown · 12/07/2018 23:46

She’s wearing the wrong bra.

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 13/07/2018 06:58

I think it needs more of a defined waist. It looks a bit sack-like.

Floisme · 13/07/2018 07:58

Sock I don't think I've ever seen you swear before Shock

There are 3 things I will salute Theresa May for: Hillsborough, Gary Mckinnon and for being a middle aged woman in a serious job who's not afraid to like clothes. Her body's on a similar trajectory to mine but she's still out there, enjoying getting dressed. And dressing for an event like that would scare the crap out of me. A tailored dinner suit is kind to a 60 year-old body but an evening dress leaves you nowhere to hide. She's still gone for it.

I think the red is great - really suits her. It's a dominant colour and boy did she need to look dominant. Plus it's the Republican colour so ticks the etiquette box too.

I'm not so keen on the long split. I always think it looks like you've trodden on the hem and ripped the seam. I'd have gone a smidgeon lower with the neckline but I guess it's high to balance out the split (which is another reason why I don't like it). Great arms though.

I think my posture's a bit like that Blush

Laiste · 13/07/2018 09:09

I think the split was too high. Walking up that flight of stairs we could see all the way up to upper thigh at the back. I don't think that looks professional and was wrong.

Colour was lovely though. Loved the high neck and no sleeves too.

ARoomSomewhere · 13/07/2018 09:47

I thought she dressed appropriately for a corporate dinner.
I thought the colour was a clever way of presenting a united front of Britishness with the Guards.

She looked terribly uncomfortable waiting for Trumps car.
Its clear where the power balance is. He'll sell us up the river.
Melania looked like she was not really there at all. Clearly loathes DT.

1moreglassplease · 13/07/2018 11:52

Not a fan of TM at all but the red is a great colour on her, although her posture does let the side down and I don't think that helps her bust look great. Also would have preferred it more fitted around the waist.

Apparently she works out like a demon regularly with Rosie H-W's brother (I think) so that's obviously helped her stay in shape.

StaySafe · 13/07/2018 12:02

The colour is good, but she does not have nice arms and should have had some cover for them. She does have terrible posture, as did Mrs Thatcher and needs to stand up straight to look good in those clothes.
My mother is the same age that The Queen is and Mrs Thatcher was. I am the same age as Theresa May and think she looks a lot older than me and my old school friends of this age.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 13/07/2018 13:34

I think Mrs May looks bloody marvellous. Elegant and dignified under very trying circumstances.

I feel sorry for Melania. Trump “made and paid” for her new face/body and she looks like she “belongs” to him, in the worst possible sense,

Now that we know Trump was backstabbing, even as he stood with TM in that red carpet, I wish she’d show some backbone and tell him to “shove his opinions on Brexit/Boris/NATO where the sun don’t shine”. How she can be so clever, composed, dignified and hospitable in the face of this fuck-wit ManChild, I’ve no idea. Top marks, PM.

Nettletheelf · 13/07/2018 15:37

She looks the biz in that red suit today, too.

Agree that she has aged in post, but that isn’t surprising. Imagine the stress!

I like the look of her husband. Seems like a much healthier relationship than Donald & Melania.

Lovingholiday · 13/07/2018 15:57

Not a supporter in the slightest but she looks great...
And for those who critique her posture, well as a sufferer of a horrid posture all my life what do you want her to do about that? I done Pilates and yoga for bloody ages to help and keep going to posture doctors to help with the pain, not fun in the slightest. Not her fault.

Deathraystare · 13/07/2018 16:51

Funny that there is also a post about how awful she looks!

I don't care for her policies but I do like the look of the dress. I like when she wears her leopard print shoes! I despair when women in the public eye get blasted for what they wear. Better than what Corbyn and Boris wear.
