Hey all,
Going away in a couple of weeks to Fuerteventura! Can't wait!!! Just need a little jacket or cover up for the cooler evenings. I have had a look but I can't think of a style that would go with the dresses I have. I will post a pic below of the dresses I have but I have then I'm a yellow and coral colour. Extra points if I can wear it a little more casual too as we will be going on a star gazing excursion one evening :) thanks in advance! Xx

That's a tough one as the dress is quite 'dressy' But would you wear a cropped denim jacket? Maybe something like this

macnab · 11/07/2018 13:19

What about a big scarf or pashmina to wrap around you instead? Is it really going to get that cold in the Canaries in July?

BlameItOnTheNeon · 11/07/2018 14:23

For hot weather holidays I have a supply of boyfriend style cardigans I get cheap from Amazon.
They're the only thing I've found light and cool enough (but still smart-ish) to wear even in the middle of the day in Egypt, Thailand etc. They're these ones and they do them in loads of colours... www.amazon.co.uk/Body2Body-Womens-Pocket-Boyfriend-Cardigan/dp/B00I4SN3GI/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=boyfriend+cardigan&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1531315089&sr=8-4

Ohhh I love the idea of the big scarf to go with the dresses! Thanks!

And I do really like the cardigan also, that would be perfect for the more casual evenings! Plus I love a bargain!!

Thanks ladies 🏝

I meant to also say that I've had some of those cardigans for eight years and they're only now starting to look a bit tired, so those ones are resigned to wearing over my bikini on the dive boat between dives.

They wash so well and dry v v quickly (very handy on holiday!!). They don't crease either.

Hope you have a fantastic time on holiday :)

Denim jacket would look perfect with that dress and make it a bit more casual too

TroubledLichen · 11/07/2018 14:34

Love the dress! I’m a very cold person but I’ve been to the canaries before and didn’t need a cover up as it was so warm over night. Don’t overthink it, for the star gazing excursion I’d go practical and take a cardigan you can shove in your bag and pull out if/when needed. A jacket will be annoying as you’ll end up carrying it most of the night. A big scarf/pashmina would also work. Have a great holiday Grin

knickerbockergloryy · 11/07/2018 14:45

Thank you blame it on the neon I will order one of those :) sound very practical and look good too! ;)

Spanishwife I do have a cropped denim jacket with 3/4 length sleeves so I'll throw that in as well (I'm terrible for overpacking, hopefully I don't have to pay extra this year 🙈😂)

Triubpedlichen where abouts did you go? I'm so excited! I think the pashmina is a must! Now just to decide on a colour haha!! 1st world problems

You're welcome - I promise I don't work for them! Grin

knickerbockergloryy · 11/07/2018 14:52

I wouldn't mind if you did! A cardigan for £8 needs shouting about haha 😂

A bright material cropped biker jacket would work with that dress

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/07/2018 12:35

I went to Tenerife a couple of years back (late Oct) and it was still amazingly warm in the evening.
I took a large lightweight scarf , easy to fold away , but I could drape it round my shoulders to cover (and I am not a scarf fan really)

Bear in mind you might go to places that you'll be expected to cover up.

Passthecake30 · 16/07/2018 20:12

Jumping on board, were off to lanzarote and I was thinking about some sort of scarf cover up in case it's breezy, something not too pricy as I think dcs will steal it if they are tired/cold.... where do I find such a think?

JaceLancs · 16/07/2018 22:10

I have some very lightweight linen cardigans from tkmaxx with elbow length sleeves
Navy, black and dove grey so thin they weigh nothing
I also have a cream scarf wrap thing
I’m going to lanzarote in September and that’s all I’ll take along with a variety of dresses for evenings
Shorts n t shirts vest top n floaty tops for day

Fullfatlatte · 16/07/2018 22:38

Agree with other posters re denim jacket. Looks like a lovely dress, can I ask where it’s from?

knickerbockergloryy · 17/07/2018 07:58

Hello, so I ordered a couple of big light weight scarves from eBay. I think they were £7 each so a bargain! And the dress is from river island. I think its in the sale now! But only the black left. They have a long sleeve version too :) happy holidays everyone! xxx

I’m in Tenerife now and it’s cold at night. Jackets and cardis are needed. It’s windy and cold.
