I’m stuck.

It’s in three weeks time... I’m running out of time.

I’m 5ft tall, blond, size 8/10, diagnosed a HoC Autumn, I’m 44.
I don’t want to look like a child going to prom, nor do I want to look like the brides mum (I could be).

Please help me... accessories too if poss...

I suggest booking a personal shopper session at John Lewis or house of Fraser. You tell them your size and budget and the occasion and they find tons of stuff for you to try on. It's free and you will get lots of ideas you wouldn't ever have thought of.

What's your budget? Is it a very formal do?

Something like this Reiss number? Reiss bronze

The Reiss one molten linked to is divine. Buy it!!

Coming couture is nice too www.next.co.uk/shop/gender-women-category-dresses/brand-cominocouture

Thank you ladies. I’m pretty flexible on price. Hopefully my brother will only get married once!

Do you think the Reiss one would be a bit long on me. It looks like it would be tricky to take up...

You might be right about the length thinking about it. My friend wears a lot of Forever Unique and she's your height and an 8.

UpperWallop · 10/07/2018 18:14

This is stunning in real life www.foreverunique.co.uk/dresses/abbie-peach-embroidered-lace-skater-dress.html

MoltonSilver · 10/07/2018 18:46

This would probably be about knee length on you.

Do you like patterns?

Strong colours? Pastels?

Any bits you want to cover or show off?

NotMeNoNo · 10/07/2018 18:57

Do you know your HOC style gamine/ingenue etc? There is an autumn FB page as well. Could you wear wine red like someone at the Royal wedding did?

MoltonSilver · 10/07/2018 19:06

Is this colour any good? It looks quite warm on my screen.

Coast

MoltonSilver · 10/07/2018 19:09

Too girly?

Or would you like a jumpsuit, neat fitting one? Closet London have some nice ones.

MoltonSilver · 10/07/2018 19:13

Autumn colours in petite are turning out to be impossible to find. There is a gap in the market there. It doesnt help that the shops are kind of between seasons. I think your best bet is to try the first Reiss dress on and see if it needs shortening.

OlennasWimple · 10/07/2018 19:13

Crepe de chine

Wrap dress (would probably need shortening)

Hot pink brocade (also for shortening)

Cotton and silk (would be knee length on you, I think)

Love Moschino cotton dress

Cotton and silk (hopefully not too "prom dress-y")

Hot blue

Purple stretch cotton

Silk

Have you looked at Precis Petite? Lots of wedding guest dresses there (though some drift towards MoTB territory)

Karcheer · 10/07/2018 22:37

I’m an ingenue.
Look much better in stronger colours.

Thanks for all the suggestions will have a proper look in the morning.
That green précis dress is an absolute bargain!

I would put the dark green lace dress with really bright accessories say ivory and orange /lime green/coral. Kettlewell do these cashmere stoles in gorgeous colours. Might look less mother of bride than a jacket/bolero

NotMeNoNo · 11/07/2018 12:20

A bit like this but with different colours

I tired that Reiss one on-it weighed about 10 tons! (But looked nice)
