I'm 30 years old and going out for a friend's birthday.

I originally thought the dress was satin and thought night wear. As you say it's leather I think it wouldn't look like night wear and I quite like it.

Can you post a picture wearing it?

Not keen on the shoes, agree with other posters.

DextroDependant · 10/07/2018 22:23

I have had a Google of leather slip dresses and they look lovely on.

I couldn't see yours but lots similar. They look lovely with a one strap shoe like this picture.

No need for all the rude comments Hmm

OP, I agree with some of the other posters. The shoes are more suited to black skinnies than a delicate dress. I think strappy sandals would be nicer.

IwankaTramp · 11/07/2018 10:44

Looks like an outfit put together after a rustle through a bargain bin on Romford Market.

So a no from me on all counts.

IrisApfelRocks · 11/07/2018 10:47

Some comments are uncalled for.

Agree that the shoes are all wrong for the dress. The dress itself is fine if you are going clubbing. But if it's for a meal and drinks afterwards I d wear a tshirt underneath for 90's vibe but then you said it's leather so I am not sure how it hangs on you? Is it tight/bodycon?

pangolina · 11/07/2018 10:48

No need for people to be so rude. I actually would wear a shoe boot but probably in a solid colour. I think it would work with a leather dress. That said, a lot is dependent on personailty etc and I certainly have several friends who would wear that outfit and look amazing.
Do you have any other shoe-contenders that you're considering?

Member · 11/07/2018 11:03

I think this is it; one pic does have it styled with boots but calf length with black opaques. Another picture has it with white trainers so it can work with shoes other than strappy sandals but the boots in the op aren’t among those. I don’t think an ankle/shoe boot is out of the question but would have to be lower, thinner heel and no platform.

Earthwindnfiya · 11/07/2018 11:12

I like the style of the boots with that type of dress, like the edgy but girly kind of look, but they would maybe look better in black if you have a pair? Or maybe some peep toe ankle boots which are a bit longer on the top?

Earthwindnfiya · 11/07/2018 11:16

Also I'm assuming the people calling you out on your dress choice (which is lush btw where did you get it?!) and saying it looks like lingerie, are only doing so because they're jealous that they couldn't pull it off themselves. You're young, wear what you bloody well like, show as much skin as you bloody well like and never let anyone make you feel bad about it. it'll look amazing on!

CountFosco · 11/07/2018 13:43

Agree with some of the PPs, some of these comments are uncalled for and not in the spirit of S&B.

Love the look of the dress in the ebay ad worn with trainers and personally think strappy sandals would tip the dress over into too obvious a 'sexy' look but with boots or trainers there's more of an edge to the look.

ChandlersSmile · 11/07/2018 14:24

Ignore the catty messages OP!

I think the dress is gorgeous! I'd probably wear it with strappy sandals. The boots are lovely too but as another poster said would be better worn with skinny jeans.

I got some Valentino style heels from Primark for £10, something like that would go beautifully with the dress.

Nearlyherenotlong · 11/07/2018 14:27

I love the outfit and shoes

TrickyKid · 11/07/2018 14:33

I've seen quite a few people wearing this look recently, the boots with a short dress. I think it could work, especially as the dress is leather. Need to see it on really though.

PickleJuice · 11/07/2018 14:37

I'd wear it...if I lost a few stones first. I can see how it would work in an edgy way.
I think people need to see you in it.

YsoSaltytho · 11/07/2018 14:40

Ugly dress. It looks like ugly ann summers stock thats gone to everything 5 pounds or wish.

spanishwife · 11/07/2018 14:40

That dress needs a delicate, single-soled shoe, I would perhaps go for more of a pointed court style to add sophistication. Don't wear jewellery and make the bag very simple - the dress is really saying it all

YsoSaltytho · 11/07/2018 14:41

The dress looks like underwear. Unless you have zero curves and skinny as a rail it will look very cheap.

Undercoverbanana · 11/07/2018 14:44

Not my taste at all, but I hope you have a lovely evening.

TheTroutofNoCraic · 11/07/2018 14:57

The dress is quite cool...I like it, but alas, am too generous -saggy- of bust to wear it.
The boots are wrong for it...I think something strappy and without a platform would be best with it. Boots, particularly platform, are a bit too heavy for it, especially in this weather we are having.

I can see it looking gorgeous over a fine knit, black top with black tights and a more delicate boot in the winter also.

ProseccoPoppy · 11/07/2018 15:04

I like the dress. I am the same age as you but a bit fat and very busty so couldn’t carry it off but from the size of the dress in your picture you’re smaller than me and will probably look amazing - jealous Grin

You might be a bit hot in that at the moment though. That style but a lighter fabric would be cooler right now.

I’d go for “lighter” shoes - maybe gladiator sandals? These are worryingly cheap so probably not going to be good quality but are the style I was thinking of - www.everything5pounds.com/en/Gladiator-Flat-Sandals/p/613407-213404-270?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign_id=223497334&utm_adgroup_id=53028966392&utm_term=&pk_cid=223497334&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlv6ip5uX3AIVDJ3tCh12dgypEAQYHyABEgKi2vD_BwE

YsoSaltytho · 11/07/2018 15:17

30 is not old at all but its not young enough to look cool in lingerie as outer wear ie 16 to 21 years olds skinny.

RoseWhiteTips · 11/07/2018 15:26

Why are people so rude?
