Boyfriend jeans- how loose is too loose?

Bought a pair of boyfriend jeans as I'm getting too old for skinnies. I like them a lot, but they seem very very big. I get that to some degree that's the idea, but what is the fit meant to be like? Here's a pic. I'm not sucking my tummy in or anything.

I think they look too big and like they're sitting too high on your waist for boyfriend jeans. What label are they?

They're too big, you could go down a size or two.
If they contain lycra they will be unwearable without a belt after about an hour. Return them.

BF jeans should be neat in the bum and waist and a bit looser on the thighs and legs. Not like that. Definitely return them.

They're TopShop, cotton, no lycra, no stretch and they've just grown and grown - had them a few days. Size is 28/32. I'd be amazed if I could get into a 26, but these are very generous. I wouldn't say they're neat in the waist and bum. Thanks for comments. Maybe I haven't got the right shape for boyfriend.

I liked the idea of loose jeans but I tried a few styles and brands on, and they all looked terrible on me. I ended up buying a paid from Uniqlo but had to size down.

A good alternative to skinnies is cigarette style, so not as skinny but still slim fitting.

P.s. just had a look at your link. They don’t look very good on the model, do they?

If you have already worn them and can’t take them back, try them with a tan belt perhaps.

I've got a nice belt, but they are too big. I'm going to give them to DDiL, she's taller and more boyish than me Grin. I thought they looked ok on the model, but I'm not very astute about these things Grin. Serves me right, I try not to buy online for this very reason. I make much better decisions if I try on in the shop.

They're meant to look like that but they're nicer if you size down.
