I'm between sizes is the bane of my life

Anyone else suffer from being inbetween sizes?

I'm a size 13.

I have a 30.5 inch waist.

Size 12's are normally 29' and too tight, size 14's are usually 32 inches and too baggy.

Anyone found a simple solution to my moaning that doesn't involve alterations?

Ignore size labels.

Ignore the brand name.

There is such a huge disparity in sizing across the high street, between different shops and even within one brand (H&M, Cos sizing is all over the place, for example) that I can't believe that this happens in every single shop out there.

I realise that not every single shop on the high street will suit your style. I certainly stick to a few favourites myself, but part of my preference for these shops, in addition to liking the style of clothes, is that I'm confident the sizing and cut will suit my body shape.

Where do you currently shop, perhaps we can offer alternatives of a similar look you can try?

ASOS now offer inbetween sizes for some stuff. My friend got a pair of size 15 jeans from them recently

Agree with pp that sizes vary hugely. So a 14 in one shop will be smaller than a 12 in another. Surely sizes aren’t to uniform that there is a perfect size 13, I’m guessing you’re 12 in one shop and 14 in another.

I hear ya.

I'm also an apple shape which means finding things like decent skinny jeans is a fucking nightmare; if they fit my waist they are saggy on my legs.

I wish everything was stretchy Grin

Thanks for the advice. I usually shop in next or supermarkets for convenience.

I just popped to shops and managed to find 14's that were much snugger than it used to and they flatter much better than a baggy 14 from elsewhere

Alterations are often my solution. But otherwise, as pp have said, try more shops to find sizing that works better for you.
