Help - are these granny shoes or not....

woolythoughts · 03/07/2018 10:03

I have difficulty finding shoes/sandals that fit my difficult feet but which don't look like soemething my granny would wear.

These appeal to me....

www.pavers.co.uk/collections/womens-sandals/products/stretch-sandals-poly25000-309-522?variant=1270261153799

But I fear they'd make me look 62 not 42

My eyeeeeeeeeees!!!

lenalove · 03/07/2018 11:38

Those M&S ones linked above look comfy, and are way less grannyish!!

macnab · 03/07/2018 11:48

I'm sorry it's a no from me too!

I love all the sandals that have been linked on this thread, in particular the M&S ones and I love the New Look ones but in grey not green. Lots there for you to choose from OP, and even more out there if you have a look. Please don't settle for those weird stretchy fabric ones!

woolythoughts · 03/07/2018 11:49

ok - I'll step away from the sandals.

Good job I checked.

I do tend to go for comfort over style....I'll check some of the ones you've suggested.

Sorry I think those Evans ones are worse, not totally granny but very gaudy.
As someone with wide feeding feet I feel your pain.
The M&S ones linked below are lovely

woolythoughts · 03/07/2018 12:14

Are these ok? I really have no style sense so apologies for checking:

I like the pink mules so trying to get to £50 for free delivery

PamsterWheel · 03/07/2018 12:29

Oh wooly you naughty little jester 😂 wtf with those white ones? No!

Personally I'm not into the pink evans ones but chose them because you seem to like the colour. Go for them.if you like them but not the Pavers. Pay the postage, making it up to get free postage only works if you like what you're buying. You don't like those white ones. Trust me.

How about these op images2.drct2u.com/main_product/products/bl/bl905/o01bl905517s.jpg or these are ok for running around in www.boohoo.com/wide-fit-2-part-suede-sandals/DZZ28068.html?color=166

NutElla5x · 03/07/2018 14:05

DubiismyBlackpool I love those-so pretty and look comfy too.Might treat myself to a pair Smile

sausagerollsontheside · 03/07/2018 14:10

Haha how old are you ?
96?

IggyAce · 03/07/2018 14:15

I got these wide fit ones after a recommendation on another thread. They are so comfortable.

musicinthe00ssucks · 03/07/2018 14:17

I have shockingly wide feet OP and recently bought these from M&S www.marksandspencer.com/wide-fit-leather-buckle-gladiator-sandals/p/p60153657?image=SD_01_T02_9534W_VF_X_EC_90&color=PEWTER&prevPage=plp

They are really comfortable and not grannyish. I also bought some M&S wide fitting brogues before Christmas and they fit really well too.

woolythoughts · 03/07/2018 14:39

I assume these are hideous as well

www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=1&langId=-1&productId=30973153&Ntt=20R47ZBLK&pageSize=20&defaultGridLayout=3&Nty=1&CE3_ENDECA_PRODUCT_ROLLUP_ENABLED=N&productOnlyCount=1&catalogId=33054&Dy=1&pageNum=1&productIdentifierproduct=product&x=0&y=0&storeId=12553&qubitRefinements=siteId%3DEvansUK

I confess I own the above but have never brought myself to wear them - hence the looking for shoes.

I just have no taste and because I have to have flat wide fit - I'm bombarded by granny shoes

I think I'm going to go for the M&S gladiator ones and the debenhams ones.......

Thanks everyone for your help

If your feet are chunky and chubby, requiring depth in shoes upper soles evans is good. If your feet are boney but broad as in you need the bottom of the sole to be cut wide but dont have padded/fat upper feet then evans too big.

Coughy · 03/07/2018 14:54

They dont look bad but so flat. Will you walk ok with no support? How are your arches?

woolythoughts · 03/07/2018 15:06

All my should are almost perfectly flat.

Any angle at all causes pain - I've broken my bones in my feet so many times they aren't knitted right - any heel and I can feel the bones grinding.

I've got dodgy bones and chunky and chubby feet!

OP posts:
Coughy · 03/07/2018 17:56

Ahh ok i hope they are comfy then! Your poor feet! Flowers

Nettletheelf · 03/07/2018 20:20

Sorry about your foot problems, but even so I cannot stand by and let you buy those Pavers horrors. My 85 year old mother would turn her nose up at them for being too granny-ish. The white ones almost as bad.

woolythoughts · 03/07/2018 23:14

Thanks all.

Here are the offending feet!

Left broken four times, right broken 6 times. - caused the bone issue

Mother insisting I wore sensible shoes when small combined with a tendency to lardiness- causes the wide feet.

I’d love to just be able to buy a pair of shoes because they look nice! But I think I’ve gone too far to comfort in terms of instinct!

woolythoughts · 03/07/2018 23:15

Ps don’t break your feet playing tennis then think your ok to go hiking in the Andes three weeks later so long as you strap them and wear strong boots.

Your feet won’t heal and they’ll break very easily for ever more!

OP posts:
GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 04/07/2018 15:56

I like the black Evan’s ones. Do you own those already? I’d wear those if they fit ok.

foxtiger · 04/07/2018 16:28

The original (pink) ones look like beach shoes. I wouldn't wear them with work clothes, but I think they could look OK if your general style is a bit hippy/surferly.

Fitflop dont even have the concept of wide

IME some FitFlop styles are way too wide, and I haven't got especially narrow feet any more (I did when I was a kid).
