It's sheer and matte all day and doesn't look chalky or blue (it has a very light yellow tint which I guess counteracts the usual blueness, but it doesn't look yellow on). I usually steer clear of silicone/dimethicone as I have suspected it irritates my eyes but this is loaded with dimethicone (my mistake, I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known) and is completely non-irritating. In fact I often forget I've put it on at all. No breakouts, no shine, no dry patches. Coola products are cruelty-free.
Fwiw I'm 50, normal with oily/dry areas, pretty pale. Not sure if the yellow tint would present a problem if your skin is much darker or lighter than mine, it's very sheer.
