WTF has happened to my hair? (Pics included)

Went to usual excellent hair dresser yesterday. Wanted to go a little darker as colour had lifted so much and was a bit wishy washy. The ends are fine but the top is red. Too red, and doesn't match the rest. I'm waiting for her to call me back. But can anything be done? And if so will it wreck my hair for a while? Hair is wet and then half dry. Will post a pic of it dry later. Am I being silly? Don't feel I can walk around like this for weeks. Is a semi.

TIA

We need better pictures.

Did you spend hours sitting in the sun after you went to the hairdressers? It looks like the top has lifted and lightened which would make sense as it would get more sun than the underneath. But I’m with you that it doesn’t look right, the underneath is a cool red, the top is a warm auburn, I would definitely want it correcting.

I can see it. I wouldn’t be happy with that either OP. It’s very unbalanced. I would go back and ask her to fix it.

How weird, was it like that as soon as you came out? What colour were you before?

BusterGonad · 29/06/2018 19:58

Is it maybe due to the underside being quite grey and therefore picking up on the redness in the colour?

Tonicwaterandgin · 29/06/2018 19:59

It looks like she's put the wrong colour on. It's very red.

Skyejuly · 29/06/2018 20:06

Are the ends much dryer?

So sorry for ignoring all the replies. They weren't actually showing up on my watched list! I spoke to the hairdresser and went back the following morning. She agreed it was not good! She put a cooler semi all over.

Re greys, I don't have many.

Re sitting in the sun after, no I didn't go in the sun at all (and generally don't!)

Re colour before - it was a dark blonde/light brown with a little warmth

Re dryness - no it's not massively dry. It's in good condition but by nature it's coarse. I look after it well, using Pureology products. I don't straighten it. Blow dry it most days. I do use Philip Kingsley Elasticizer and she asked me to take the tube in. She wondered if it was high in silicones, so would stop the dye penetrating. But we agreed it doesn't seem to be.

I've had a reddish colour before and it's not gone like this. It looks a lot better and you wouldn't necessarily know now. But I had it half up the other day, at home, and 15 yo DS said "did you go and have your hair sorted out?"! Confused. Hairdresser went on holiday for a week the day after she corrected it. She has booked me in for an appointment next week in case we need to do more.

Thanks again for the replies.
