What size and colour are you looking for?
These are available as short or extra short and go up to size 32.

takemetomars · 25/06/2018 11:22

thanks- looking for black/navy, linen only as I get too hot in anything else. I am 5 foot 1 and a size 16 with tree trunk legs and very large thighs so looking for a relaxed fit.

Not sure about the ones you linked too, a bit to tailored and am a weird shape so probably wouldn't fit?

Try Debenhams linen joggers. They don't sound great but are nothing like 'joggers' -they are relaxed in the leg with a tapered ankle and ironed look as smart as linen can.

I had to size down.

DunesOfSand · 25/06/2018 11:31

M&S?

Next tailored stuff is worth a look to.

NationalEspresso · 25/06/2018 11:37

Monsoon have some nice linen trousers in at the moment. I sympathise - shortarse lipo-lymphoedema sufferer here.

takemetomars · 25/06/2018 14:09

Thank you everyone, will take a look at your suggestions.

I already have Mand S wide leg linene blend which fit nicely, I live in them. Do you think they are smart enough for Wimbledon tho??? Having a real crisis of confidence!

I too have lipo-lymphoedema, early stages. I hate my legs so much!! Can't wear dresses/skirts anymore

I am similar shape to you - I've bought a lot of linen this year. I love my M&S wide leg linen trousers (not the autograph ones, the ones in the normal range with the belt). If you're worried about them not being smart enough, you could starch them. They will stay crisp for longer. I wouldn't worry though about them not being smart enough for Wimbledon hospitality. Yes, there will be women there in dresses and heels. But you won't look out of place. I think you will look great. I've attended lots of hospitality things btw, I'm not just saying it.

What type of top/bag etc are you thinking of?

hendricksy · 25/06/2018 15:35

Could you wear a midi , maxi dress? I'm 5 foot with chunky legs and I find them very flattering .. you will need petite or midi to be worn as ankle length .

takemetomars · 25/06/2018 17:02

going to try to attach some pics of proposed outfit

which bag? I think the mulberry or the Kate Spade

the top is a blue gray colour, very flattering, it hides the not so great waist part of the trousers. I am normally very confident about myself but the prospect of being in an area with lots of slim glam younger women looking effortlessly elegant is freaking me the fuck out. I will be all sweaty and shiny with hurting feet!

I keep talking myself out of it!!

Matalan - never usually shop there but friend had some and I bought 3 pairs!

IrmaFayLear · 25/06/2018 17:13

I bought some nice ones in Asda! £14.

I am 5'3" and Asda is one of the few places where trousers are exactly the right length. Petite ranges just a bit too short and every other store assumes their customers are 6'2" with pencil-thin legs.

I think "cheap" clothes are fine if carefully chosen.

BigFatBloomers · 25/06/2018 20:28

I think that looks like a great outfit and it’s far more important to be wearing something that you feel happy in than worrying about new trousers fitting.
I like the pale blue bag. It looks nice and summery.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 25/06/2018 20:37

I love that top!

EatSleepRantRepeat · 25/06/2018 20:52

I think that outfit looks lovely and classy! I wouldn't worry much about what everyone else is wearing, there may be some super slim clothes horses but even they can look ridiculous in something too short and tight. Maybe add a small brimmed straw hat if they're allowed, to keep the sun off your face and neck?

takemetomars · 25/06/2018 22:50

Thanks peeps! Such kind and helpful comments.

Will let DH know that Wimbledon is back on!!

You will look great. Would go with with the light blue bag. Have a fabulous time, one pimms and all your worries will go away!

fedupandnogin · 26/06/2018 07:34

So where did you get the trousers from in the end? (I'm also 5 ft size 12/14).

takemetomars · 26/06/2018 18:39

I think I am going to stick with my current pair(s) from M and S. Maybe starch a pair as suggested. They are the linen blend £19.50 ones I think, wide leg. I have 3 blue, 3 black and they are my summer 'uniform'.
I am going to JL on sat tho so might still look for a smarter pair but reluctant to buy online.
I walked to the local shops earlier in the heat. I was very very miserable and it is making me not want to go all over again. I hate being overweight on the heat!!

Finally found some I don’t
look like a small square box in. They’re pricey at £55, and I’m not sure what your budget is. They’re John Lewis’s own make and are straight leg. I’m 5’ and they’re long but because they’re not wide legs I roll them up. I’m 12/14 and got the 12 in the navy and the olive. They felt a bit tight on the thigh at first but within mins gave a bit and feel
Fine.

MrsPeacockDidIt · 26/06/2018 22:58

I’ve just bought some wide leg linen trousers from Seasalt. They are lovely and best of all have a wide stretch waistband (like yoga pants). I got dark grey but I’m sure they donother colours. I paid to have them taken up professionally, I normally do it myself.

MrsPeacockDidIt · 26/06/2018 22:59

Ps I’m 5’1 and 16/18

MinaPaws · 27/06/2018 07:10

Also short, fat with thunderthighs here.

I bought M&S peg leg linen trousers this year. They are deceptive. They look like they won't fit enormous fat short legs, and when you first put them on, there's a bit of sausage factory going on, but the linen gives very quickly - within 5 mins they fit perfectly, keep their shape and they look more elegant than wide leg imo. The black ones look really smart. The navy are a bit bright but very versatile.

(But I couldn't find the wide leg ones in my local M&S this year so have nothing to compare them with.)

Trumpton · 27/06/2018 08:54

H&M linen joggers are lovely . I have just bought white and khaki and love them . Slim fitting and rolled hem . 5ft 4in and size 16 .
