And is someone in her 40s to old to be a hippy chick?

Whatever floats your boat. I am approaching 40 and still like to dress in a mildly hippy way.

Scootergrrrl · 23/05/2007 20:27

Joe Brown's is great, although their sizes are a little... ahem... snug and you're NEVER too old to be a hippy chick! The jewellry is very nice too

Whizzz · 23/05/2007 20:28

I quite like it but have never bought anything for just that reason. I like Fat Face though

GraceKelly · 23/05/2007 20:31

DG, some of their stuff is quite nice I agree. But I have found that the quality is not so good. I once ordered a load of stuff and sent most of it back

Nothing wrong with a 40+ hippy chick imo! Groovy baby

DumbledoresGirl · 23/05/2007 20:37

Ahhhhh. Maybe not then if the quality isn't up to much. I don't want to waste money on stuff that will fall apart in a week.

Whizzz, I like Fat Face too. I showed dh the Joe Brown stuff and he said "I thought we agreed we were going to buy from Fat Face!" as though you only buy clothes from one shop!

Thats a Man thing Dgirl

MegaLegs · 23/05/2007 20:44

Did you get a catologue from them thi sweek too.

I have been trying to work out which mailing list I am on.

I would like to be more hippy chick and just less hippy

DumbledoresGirl · 23/05/2007 20:50

Yes I did Megalegs! It is a mystery to me too as I am normally very careful to ensure my address is not given out to other companies.

But I have to admit, I quite like the style.

I liked it too, especially the swingety skirts.

MegaLegs · 23/05/2007 20:52

I mean swingy (what do I mean? - soz have had wine)

Scootergrrrl · 23/05/2007 20:54

I liked swingety

DumbledoresGirl · 23/05/2007 20:54

Yes I liked the skirts but sadly, I think I am too old for them now. I was looking at the dresses and some of the tops (though if truth be known I actually need trousers/shorts)

Scootergrrrl · 23/05/2007 20:58

I have the black short-sleeved shirt with the frilly bits on the front and I wear that an awful lot. V versatile

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 23/05/2007 20:59

I am no their mailing list too and I know not how. As, I discovered, is someone else I saw reading one yesterday. Weird!

I however would LOVE to place a very large order with them but alas cannot afford to do so! DH and I got excited last year as we noticed that they do "credit" so compiled a large (and BAD! ) shopping list, went on their website to order it, only to discover that you have to start an account with.. some catalogue.. John Lewis I think.. and get credit through THEM.. and then only from the VERY few selected items of Joe Browns that they do!

DH and I are back to just swooning at the unsolicited catalgues!

DumbledoresGirl · 23/05/2007 21:03

So when you say the sizes are snug Scootergrrrl, how snug are we talking? Go-up-a-size-from-your-usual-size snug or just, be prepared to wear the clothes and have them tight fitting?

OP posts:
DumbledoresGirl · 23/05/2007 21:04

Hmmmm John Lewis you say? I have long had an account with JL. Might that be the missing link Megalegs?

OP posts:
Scootergrrrl · 23/05/2007 21:05

It's kind of halfway between the two so it depends - I ordered the shirt I love in my ususla size and it's just about ok. I couldn't wear it if I was any less bosomly-challenged than I am....

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 23/05/2007 21:06

Well I don't have a John Lewis account. (Or else I would now no doubt posess a fair amount of Jor Browns lovely lovely stuff... [wistful]) I do however have sizeable accounts with Kays and Empire. (Which I am depserately trying to get down!) Perhaps they are all brother and bob?

southeastastra · 23/05/2007 21:12

i've got the cat too this week. i find their stuff quite hardwearing, though i go up a size normally.

MegaLegs · 23/05/2007 22:00

Not John Lewis but Ocado = Waitrose = John Lewis. AHA!!
