Converse but comfier?

CoconutAmericano · 19/06/2018 20:08

I love the look of Converse, both the high and low tops but I’ve accepted I just can’t wear them. They give me blisters. Which is a shame as they are such classics..
So are there other brand I could try that are a dream to wear but would have a similar look to Converse?

Please and thank you, you style gurus you Smile

I wear Adidas superstars, not too high at the ankle, thick sole, don’t scuff. I’ve been wearing them about 25 years.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 20/06/2018 07:44

I don't get on with converse either. Superga all the way.

ToffeeNosed · 20/06/2018 07:44

Guess sneakers at Tk Maxx have thick soles, very comfy.

spiderlight · 20/06/2018 12:19

I find my Supergas massively more comfortable than my Converse.

ThursdayLastWeek · 20/06/2018 12:51

Another vote for vans, specifically th slip ons. Long lasting too.

Orangedaisy · 20/06/2018 12:59

Another vote for rocket dogs. Get them in the original factory shop occasionally-if they have them in get more than one pair!

Moneyissue2 · 20/06/2018 18:39

My sequin supergas arrived today, rub around big toe, little toe and heel Sad another plain pair arriving tomorrow but guess they’ll be the same

LittleNoSleep · 20/06/2018 18:44

Another vote for Ash. They’re brilliant.

december212 · 20/06/2018 18:47

I also get blisters on my heels with converse trainers (3 pairs in, same story with them all). Rocket dogs are sooo comfy, sometimes get to bed time and realise I've had them on all day - literally feel like slippers.

Lovelydovey · 20/06/2018 18:49

Veja - super comfy, stylish and ethically produced. What more could you want?

CoconutAmericano · 20/06/2018 19:45

Again thank you for all your suggestions. I’m going to go into town on Friday to try on several pairs. I’ll be child free (oh the joy Smile) so I can devote as long as I need to find a really cool and more importantly comfortable pair of trainers I can pound the streets in!

Oh no moneyissue how disappointing. Been there, so very many times..

Ecco trainers and I'm a size 10 wide foot (girl) so TK Maxx is my go to shop for shoes

OCSock · 20/06/2018 20:04

Converse need something to line them. I use a thin heel lift to give me a bit more leg length and much-improved comfort. Wouldn't want to yomp across a wilderness in them, but fine for 3-5km. Otherwise, they are very uncomfortable. I used to like the plain FitFlop trainers, but they don't seem to sell them anymore.

mumontherunnn · 20/06/2018 20:14

Vans are SO comfy! I have vans and supergra's. The supergra's are really far too wide and very heavy. Vans all the way.

BlueKittens · 20/06/2018 20:18

Another Superga fan here

I have a navy pair and rose gold leather.

I’m probably very uncool but I like them and they sometimes attract compliments

thenorthernluce · 20/06/2018 20:21

Vans 👍🏻

TheMagicTorch · 20/06/2018 20:23

My vans are incredibly comfy! For a classic trainer my Adidas superstars are brilliant too.

TimesNewRoman · 20/06/2018 20:38

I don't find converse comfy either. Bought the New Look converse look alikes this year. Very comfy! Ended up buying a second pair as don't expect them to last as long as Converse but at £12 I don't mind.

NotARegularPenguin · 20/06/2018 21:08

I did buy some Fitflop Ghillies the other day and they're very comfy but might not be to your taste visually. Bit different.

WildCherryBlossom · 21/06/2018 06:51

I've been wearing converse since my teens and always had sore little toes. Got some supergas recently as everyone says they are wider. They look good, but they dig in on the top of my feet as I walk. I think they are gradually wearing in, but a struggle to do a whole day in them. it's a relief to wear my converse!

I'm tempted to try Stan smiths next.

Good luck with your quest OP. (And report back about the Levi quest too please!)

AgentHannahWells · 21/06/2018 06:55

Not pumps, but the best trainers I've ever owned are Nike Heraches- they are so comfy, really put a spring in my step and I have shitty arches so am hard to please.

lornathewizzard · 21/06/2018 07:33

Another vote for Rocket Dog. I love the colourful kind and they have a sale on

slinkysaluki · 21/06/2018 10:55

Can recommend Superga, very comfy and look great

CoconutAmericano · 01/08/2018 12:01

So I just thought I’d update you all as I’ve been on a quest to find some ‘classics’ that are also comfy. Im in my forties now and have lost my way a bit.. anyway, I settled on Adidas Superstars for the trainers. Super super comfy and they have decent arch support so I would highly recommend these if you have high arches. I also really wanted Dr Martens but breaking them in put me off. I bought the Flora Chelsea boots though and they seem quite soft and supple already, ok I havent pounded the streets in them yet but they do seem comfortable walking round the bedroom lol.
Finally I’ve been hankering after a pair of Levi 501’s for ages. Every vintage pair I tried on was ‘wrong’. So I went into the Levi store and found the perfect pair. They are original 501’s but cropped. 100% cotton so no stretch but I really feel held in. Im a good size 14 on the bottom and these flatter (I think) Blush
Anyway, on my classics quest these are what I have settled on. Thank you all again for your help!
