Shape wear that works but doesn’t feel like it’s cutting off circulation

Just this really I am plus sized and have a very big tummy it starts from just under my boobs and ends where the top of skimpy knickers might be.
I would like some shapewear to give me a better shape (minimise my to tummy) in a dress I am wearing that doesn’t feel really uncomfortable like it’s almost cutting off my circulation but does the job.
Any brands types favourites anyone would recommend too much choice out there.
Thanks

Spanx is the most effective I’ve found. But I would also say, having been very plus sized until quite recently, with exactly the type of belly you are describing, that nothing really worked. Spanx gave my belly a tight smooth look, but really didn’t reduce it otherwise. Are you committed to this particular outfit or could you wear something that won’t require an instrument of torture?

An under-bust slip is what you need! Not nearly as restrictive as bodies/shorts/pants and for dress wearing definitely does the trick.

Thanks both I have lost a stone and I am a work in progress. I bought this dress specially it looks ok but would feel happier with less of a belly bulge and the event is this Saturday.

BareBelliedSneetch - Any particular make you would recommend please? I have had a look on Amazon and they get quite mixed reviews. Another thing I should have said is that I am 6ft tall so don’t know if one would work on me and I would need a skin colour nude one for my dress.

This is NOT a thing of beauty but smooths everything and is comfortable, but quite hot.

I really rate the primark thong waist shaper thing. It's a thong pair of pants that comes right up to under the bust.

saltedliquorice · 19/06/2018 17:20

I am 6ft tall and size 20/22 so I don’t think a Primark thong would be for me.

M&S shapewear is quite good.

However, try it on (over tights) in the shop, and go a size up if you need to - I've made the mistake before of buying very tight shapewear because I thought I was the size on the label and it was very uncomfortable (to the extent that I took it off in the loo halfway through the evening and stuffed it in my handbag!)

DoctorMantisToboggan · 19/06/2018 17:26

The M&S wear your own bra slip as linked above is the best I've found. I wear it all dah regularly and it's really comfy. I have three of them!

I bought Elodie pants & bra & they are very good, but maybe more £££ than other makes I'm not sure

saltedliquorice · 19/06/2018 17:50

Thanks DoctorMantisToboggan a few reviews said it was uncomfortable and it rode up which made me wary.
I too have both uncomfortable shape wear and had to remove it mid way through or early on in an evening.

I have to say that I am very keen on Sainsburys Tu shapewear. I've got some really good light control pants that give a really smooth shape and don't give you that extra muffin roll over the top. I've just had a look and they've got several things that might be suitable. Reasonably priced as well.

Maverick66 · 19/06/2018 22:37

I think all shapewear is hot and uncomfortable. My advice would be to buy it in a size bigger than you need.

saltedliquorice · 19/06/2018 22:52

Thanks all I could do without feeling any hotter lol 😂
