Help me find an engagement ring

NC for this but I need the collective knowledge of mn.

I need to find an engagement ring. Want something unusual. Yellow gold. Not only diamond (or unusual diamond like a triangle) and I've been looking and cannot find anything I like.

Budget can be big (like 15-20k) but I'd like something cheaper as I really am not comfortable wearing something that expensive on my finger. Ideally I think around the 5k mark would be the highest I would go as there are many holidays I would like to spend the remainder on.

Anyone for any suggestions?

Remember when you visit a jeweller to tell them it’s an engagement ring. A ring that you will wear every day needs much more robust settings than for instance a cocktail ring that only comes out occasionally and doesn’t get bashed so much like unfortunately a ring that is worn all the time does. This is one of the reasons diamonds are sold for engagement rings, they won’t scratch unlike for example emeralds or other stones lower down the MOH scale. A jeweller will be able to advise.

Google ‘berganza’. They have some amazing stuff. Please let us know how it goes. I love jewels!!

How about something like this? here

I have a dress ring from this company - if you have ideas then they will make what you want.

Or go for a look around Hatton Gardens - loads of shops there that have a wide range.

How about something like this?

I have bought from this company before - if you have ideas then they will quote for you to make it.

Sorry - no idea why it has posted multiple times!

I recommend www.oaklandjewellery.com/
My friend is the jeweller and is so talented, she'd work with you to make exactly what you like.

Might not be your style and think it's probably lower in your budget than you would like but I love Levian for there usual things. They tend to do strawberry gold which is probably not a choice everyone will like. I love the fact their stone are so colourful (in real life).

Did you see the report.... The more you spend on. A ring, the more chance you marriage will fail.
Find one you like and can wear. Not a great big thing you have to watch out for.

If you are in London try Richard Chown. He makes very unusual rings (all hand carved or hand forged etc - lots of skill and work in them).

Thanks everyone. I picked up this beauty that I bought for myself yesterday and I'm tempted to call it my engagement ring... is it too much?

Not if you like it, have what you want!!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 20/06/2018 20:26

Personally that's very far removed from my taste and I suspect from a lot of people's, but the fact is, that's not the point at all is it? If it's what you want as the mark of your commitment then have it and be happy with it.

Given what you said before, I was thinking more
www.ingleandrhode.co.uk/bespoke/engagement-rings/spectacular-diamond-emerald-ring-bespoke-rings/ as an example and asking them to make exactly what you dream of in your colours.

I think it's fine to ask for inspiration, but don't ask for approval. Only you can know what you want to wear day in and day out and if there was a consensus, then everything would be really common place Congratulations Flowers
