Best floor covering for SN child who makes constant mess?!

dd2 has SN and is an unbelievably messy eater. There is no room to eat in the kitchen so we eat in the living/dining room. The carpet is a dark beige colour and, although we have only lived here since early March, is already looking trashed. Milk and every conceivable food stuff is always going on the floor!! There is a mat under her chair at the table, but this doesn't seem to stop food going far afield (including up the walls). We also have regular poo/wee overflows...

Has it got to be laminate or is there a carpet colour or type which could be better than the current beige? Or should I just give up on having a clean house?!

flooring is the best, I have found! Haven't had carpet for about 5 years now

give up on carpet.

go for a hard floor covering, doesnt have to be laminate, there are lots of other options out there

Marmoleum - natural product and very hard wearing and warm - contrary to popular belief. Very very easy clean too.
