Jeans - all either too big or too small. Fed up.

Grrr, I need a size 15.

Went to Debenhams to try all the petite jeans on, in 14 and 16. My mate reckoned the 14s looked better, but they felt snug, not cutting me in half tight but snug. Worse when I sat down.

The size 16s feel comfy, but slightly gappy round the waist at the back.

Am I better off gettign sie 14s and hoping they "give" with wear. But then I worry they may shrink in the wash or I may put on 1lb and be unable to wear them.

Or am I betetr off with 16s and hope they don't "give" too much. I have one pair of sie 16 jeans that I can only wear for one day before they are baggy and I have to wash them again to tighten them up.

Also the jeans I really like are 2%elastane, 80%cotton and 18% polyester. Never seen jeans with polyester before and it says to wash on a wool cycle

Buy the 14. Jeans always give and the 16s will look hideous - like an elephant's arse - five minutes after you've put them on.

why not just go elsewhere til you find a 14 that fits

electra · 22/05/2007 11:10

I had the same problem as you - I was a size 9 so I just lost a few pounds and now I'm a size 8. I guess you may not want to do that but it is tricky isn't it?

PetronellaPinkPants · 22/05/2007 11:11

eg next or monsoon are big sizes

annaphylactic · 22/05/2007 11:15

PPP - I am constantly searching for better fitting jeans and never find any. Being 5ft2" I don't have as much choice as taller people as need petites.

And I can't get in Next sie 14 at all, but the 16s are way too big - never buy from there although I did try a load on there yesterday. Don't think I can afford Monsoon.

Try getting jeans from Next, I find the sizes are quite generous, I am a 14 but can wear size 12 from Next.

fruittea · 22/05/2007 11:17

monsoon aren't too expensive - £40 or £45 I think

annaphylactic · 22/05/2007 11:18

OK, will have a look there thanks.

oliveoil · 22/05/2007 11:24

do you have a Gap near you?

go in there and grab an assistant

they will scurry back and forth and sort you out, TONS of styles to try on

oliveoil · 22/05/2007 11:25

also Oasis do a pair called Scarlett, fab fit and they stretch and have different lengths

I think they are about £40

NuttyMuffins · 22/05/2007 11:33

I have the same problem, 10's are too small but 12's are too big, and I have no arse to speak of and do I end with the baggy bum look.

brimfull · 22/05/2007 11:41

anaphylactic-did you try the regular size 14,the petite are cut smaller all over so the regular 14 may be better for you, just get them taken up.
