best shorts for horrid legs

I have grim legs.

They are short, blotchy and although I'm actually quite thin (thin, not nice and slim) my legs are pudgy.

I have previously worn cargo shorts (down to my knees) but having just looked at last year's holiday photos I look like Lofty out of It Ain't Half Hot Mum (if anyone remembers that!).

Obviously here in the UK I never wear any leg-revealing clothing, but can anyone guide me on what might be suitable on holiday?

Oh god, I feel for you. I'm a size 8 too, with terrible legs (I hate saying that, I should just be thankful that they work and I'm healthy!) - I can't wear shorts at all as I have fat knees as well as horrid dimply thighs BUT before a recent beach holiday I went for a really good (not orange!) spray tan and it really made the world of difference.

OP I feel your pain. Second the idea of a tan on the legs, makes everything better. Also, it’s not just about the length of the shorts but also how they sit in your waist/ hips/around the tummy, how they fit around the legs ie are they tight or loose, do they flare from the hips or are they more tube like, and the fabric hand, how do they drape. So you may need to try lots on to see see what feels best. I think that’s why a few PP recommend skirts- often easier. One possible suggestion is a skort - well that’s what they call them here in oz. I’ve also found googling images of women with big legs in shorts helps see how more (ahem..) solid legs look proportional in shorts, and yes short shorts, which can be a confidence booster- which is often half the battle. Your legs probably look just lovely to everyone else, don’t let let your head get in the way from having the fun of wearing them!

I have pretty sturdy legs - good calves but fat knees and thighs and they’re pale and blotchy. Next boy shorts look good on me though (well, relatively good). They’re generously sized and the legs are quite wide so they give the illusion of slimmer thighs, and they sit below the waist. Not too short either but still way above the knee.

Re: paleness and
Blotchiness, I either ignore it or if I want my legs to look nicer I’ve got a cheap CC cream from Aldi that I use on them. It’s slightly darker than my leg skin tone and seems to blur the blotchiness without looking like I’ve fake tanned.
